Older Motel

Booked Holiday Inn Express expecting at least a 3 star experience . The HI Exp in Boise is a bit old with drab colors and small rooms . While I am sure no one had smoked in the room recently it was evident that it had been a smoking room at one time , my wife noticed it right away .

Great place to stay while on business!

When I checked in I was offered a bottle of water which I really needed when I got there. I think that was the fastest check in I've ever experienced. There's nothing like being greeted with a smile from someone who clearly enjoys their job. When I left for my early morning flight at the end of my trip it was too early for the breakfast that starts at 6:00am. As I was leaving the lobby at 4:30am the gal setting up the breakfast offered to get me something for the road. How nice is that! Thanks Holiday Inn, I felt very safe and welcome during my stay.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There is an Applebee's restaurant just up the road a few blocks from the Hotel. Very convenient and a good place to eat. They stay open until midnight in case you are working late too. There was also a Dutch Brothers Coffee stand 2 blocks away. Fantastic!

Go somewhere else...!

Hotel hot tub jets did not work, when we told the staff about it they said they knew about it. We tried to use the fridge in the room and when we opened it there was a foul smell and it was hot inside. We tried to give our kids baths and the tub would not hold water. The beds were not very comfortable. I was extremely disappointed as we have stayed at this chain of hotels before and had a great experience. The staff was very polite and professional but I would not stay at this hotel again. There are much better hotels in the area for relatively the same price.

Old State Prison is a very cool thing to go see!
