Great Location & Staff, but...

The staff was friendly, the grounds and the room were well maintained and very clean, and the location was perfect, close to everything in Island Park and to West Yellowstone. And the price was great! On the downside, the beds were extremely hard, the pool was not working during our stay and, most unfortunately, after our first night there the water tested for something nasty and we came back from a day at the park to a note on our door saying "don't drink the water, it will be retested on Monday" (and this was Friday). The hotel did provide guests with bottled water and whatever it was in the water, none of us got sick. With a pool and potable water it would have easily made 3 or maybe even 4 stars!

The Angler's Lodge is, to appearances, nicely situated and furnished. The setting along the river is relaxed and peaceful, even though Route 20 runs by a couple of hundred feet away. The rooms are adequately sized for four or five people. Our experience was however very unsatisfactory. The beds had evidently been in use for some time, as the mattresses had a trough in the center. Three out of the four nights we stayed, there was little or no hot water available. Calls to management went unanswered, as there is no one available at the front desk after about 10:30pm. My wife cut her hand on splintered woodwork on the bathroom doorframe. We had no housekeeping service the first day we were there, so we returned at 11:00pm that night to no towels, no hot water, and no one available. The spa/hot tub was a portable above-ground hot tub that was very dirty and insect-infested. The resturant was so very expensive that we didn't even attempt to try it, especially in view of our experience with the rest of the property. Management and staff were uncaring and unresponsive to the issues. Totally unsatisfactory.

Talk about a view !!! Walk out the back door and the river is right there. Bring your fishing pole or just enjoy the scenery.
