Boutique luxury in the heart of the Gold Coast
In Chicago, the rule for downtown real estate is the closer to Lake Michigan, the more posh the address. Enter the Raffaello Hotel, a four-star hotel just steps from the lake and Magnificent Mile with a Michelin-rated chef and executive suites. Blending old-world aesthetics with modern conveniences, the hotel manages luxury and intimacy while being near the downtown hub. Stepping into the vintage building just off the tourist drag, guests are more likely to feel like Gold Coast residents than tourists. Raffaello Hotel offers Drumbar, a rooftop speakeasy-style inside lounge and outdoor garden terrace, found in the 18th floor.
Highlights
  • Walk to the Magnificent Mile
  • Next to the John Hancock Center
  • Rooftop sundeck
  • Upscale Italian fare at Pelago
  • Sanctuary fitness center with Precor fitness equipment
Rooms
Staying in this vintage building poses several advantages. The Raffaello Hotel offers rooms with high ceilings and architectural details for a unique, high-class vintage stay. Butterscotch-hued bedding and drapes match the walls, while high ceilings --painted stark white--stun with their beam construction. All rooms feature rainfall showerheads, GUYandGIRL amenities, 32-inch LCD TV, iHome and iPod players and 340-count linens. Rooms, which come in king, double double and suite versions are hard-wire and Wi-Fi enabled.
Features
Any Chicagoan will encourage a newcomer to put dining and an architectural experience on the itinerary. At the Raffaello Hotel, both needs are satisfied thanks to Pelago, the upscale Italian seafood restaurant and the rooftop garden, which is open from late spring to late fall. From the sundeck, guests can take in glorious views of the skyline, including Navy Pier and the next door neighbor: the John Hancock Center.

I was expecting more, but it was nice.

The room was fairly clean, there was however a huge stain on the living room chair that was pretty gross, and only one chair for sitting at the table in a suite. Having to get on an elevator to go to another floor for ice can be a pain, especially when it is what many in the hotel jokingly referred to as the world's slowest and smallest elevator. The staff is very friendly, and I heard wonderful things from other guests about the restaurant. Some may find the noise from the drum bar a little annoying if you had kids or were not out late. I was disappointed when I saw what some friends had booked for less money in other hotels. All in all it was comfortable, clean were it counted most, valet had my car there super fast, doorman had cabs there in a flash, the staff was very friendly...but I can't help but feel that is a minimum expectation for the price I paid.

Great locations and staff

The stay was great, the location is very central. All the major bus lines are 2 blocks away. THe only negative was there was construction going on nearby and the jack hammers started at 7am.

Not up to par

This was really not a hotel its a random old apartment building that was converted into a hotel ages ago. Its outdated , they don't have a customer service desk its just a lady who works three jobs at once. She is the bellman, concierge, valet , and i don't even know what else. You ask for a manager and they tell you wait until he/she comes in at a certain time. Needless to say we left this hotel . The location is fine and if you dont care about that kind of stuff its pretty cheap hotel with some loud bar on the 18th floor or something you would enjoy. I would suggest passing if you prefer 4/5 star hotels.

Raffeallo Hotel

My stay went well the staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and knew where I was going in the city. Parking was a little inconvenient but for $35 a day I find that very affordable and my room was pretty small for 2 adults and a baby. What I liked the most was the location the Magnificent Mile was a block away and the Navy Pier and beach were about 2 miles or less from the Hotel. I would recommend this Hotel looking to stay in the city for night.

Raffaello Wins

I got a suite with 20 promo code, for my family including teens. We were satisfied with the room and even more satisfied with the location of the hotel. Oak Street beach is about 15 mins walk away, & 7 storey mall(good place for breakfast) is 5 mins walk, Navy Pier was about 20 mins walk. And Magnificent Mile is right there, so you can walk all the way down as far as you can go. Bus & train was fairly easy to use. Rafaello provided a roll away cort bed, and advised it was first come first serve, and provided it in a timely manner. I left my phone charger and they mailed it back, at my offer to incur the cost. Service was good enough, and the room was also good enough. Rooftop bar seemed to be popular spot in the city. Elevator is small & slow, but we dealt with it & enjoyed walking down on some occasions.
