Boutique luxury in the heart of the Gold Coast
In Chicago, the rule for downtown real estate is the closer to Lake Michigan, the more posh the address. Enter the Raffaello Hotel, a four-star hotel just steps from the lake and Magnificent Mile with a Michelin-rated chef and executive suites. Blending old-world aesthetics with modern conveniences, the hotel manages luxury and intimacy while being near the downtown hub. Stepping into the vintage building just off the tourist drag, guests are more likely to feel like Gold Coast residents than tourists. Raffaello Hotel offers Drumbar, a rooftop speakeasy-style inside lounge and outdoor garden terrace, found in the 18th floor.
Highlights
  • Walk to the Magnificent Mile
  • Next to the John Hancock Center
  • Rooftop sundeck
  • Upscale Italian fare at Pelago
  • Sanctuary fitness center with Precor fitness equipment
Rooms
Staying in this vintage building poses several advantages. The Raffaello Hotel offers rooms with high ceilings and architectural details for a unique, high-class vintage stay. Butterscotch-hued bedding and drapes match the walls, while high ceilings --painted stark white--stun with their beam construction. All rooms feature rainfall showerheads, GUYandGIRL amenities, 32-inch LCD TV, iHome and iPod players and 340-count linens. Rooms, which come in king, double double and suite versions are hard-wire and Wi-Fi enabled.
Features
Any Chicagoan will encourage a newcomer to put dining and an architectural experience on the itinerary. At the Raffaello Hotel, both needs are satisfied thanks to Pelago, the upscale Italian seafood restaurant and the rooftop garden, which is open from late spring to late fall. From the sundeck, guests can take in glorious views of the skyline, including Navy Pier and the next door neighbor: the John Hancock Center.

Great 1 night getaway!

I stayed just one night here while I was in town for a convention at Navy Pier. I can't really say how close it is to this or that because I didn't have a chance to get out and explore since it was dark when I checked in and dark when I checked out early the next morning. The room though was great! Check in was a breeze and I was upgraded at no charge from my double bed room to a suite which had a king bed in one room and a pull out sofa in the living room. Worked out great so me and my traveling partner had our own space. Room was spotless and bed was comfortable. It was also nice and quiet. There was an awesome donut shop in the lobby that we hit before heading out. Self parking was a block up the street in a garage for 35.00 a night. I thought that was a good price considering the other hotels I looked at are 50-65 dollars a night. My only complaint was how small the elevators were. It's not like they can fix that, but for someone with severe claustrophobia, it was a struggle. I will definitely stay here again the next time I go to chicago!

Just Fine

We brought our daughter to Chicago to visit some colleges. The hotel was just fine for our needs. It was in a pretty good area. The room was a suite but pretty small. Bathroom was ok.

Great hotel with very nice rooms

Overall this hotel met my expectations. Staff is friendly and goes out of their way to assist their guest with any accommodations needed. The hotel itself is located in a great area. Shopping, restaurants and local attractions are just a footstep away from this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

Great location and donuts!

The hotel was in a great spot, located really close to shopping and dining, and the Sears tower if you get lost. The hotel lobby hosts glazed and infused donuts which are some of the best over ever had, but make sure to avoid going around rush hour before everyone goes to work )

Great get away

Booked our stay the day of, and even got earlier check in. It was great. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Although the valet is a bit expensive, it appeared my car was in a heated garage, which was nice to know. Overall, definitely worth checking out!
