Very nice place
I really like this hotel, specially the personal at breakfast time is so kind. This time my room was close to the elevator, so at midnight I was unable to sleep, but the morning after they gave me a different room.. so great!

Fabulous Hotel
We were coming to Chicago for business and decided to try a lesser known hotel that had some excellent reviews. We we're not disappointed! The staff--from the woman at check-in--to the servers at the bar downstairs in the lobby, were extremely friendly, helpful and without being too chatty or insincere. The room itself was one of the best we've ever stayed in. They seem to have it figured out in terms of what's important in a hotel room. The king bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom had good water pressure both in the sink AND the shower. The details in the shower--the way the soap dish was designed and the hand-held shower unit were all well thought out. The bathroom could have used a fan because the extensive use of mirrors there get really fogged up during a shower. The counter space in the bathroom is generous too. The room itself had a well-placed big, flat-screen TV that sat on a dresser that was part of a larger round workspace that was perfect. You could really set up your office there and have plenty of room to work. Really, well-designed furniture. We had some issues with the wireless, but I think that may have been more our problem than theirs. We ended up using the Ethernet cable that came with the room. The location was great because it was close to some great restaurants as well as Lake Michigan (Navy Pier, McCormick Place, etc.)—a lot within walking distance. I would have given it 5 stars except for: there were several outlets in the room that had the covers taken off them and were just hanging by wires. Almost like an unfinished job--seemed sloppy and slightly hazardous. The cafe in the basement that offers breakfast was way over priced, IMO. We didn't actually eat there, but if we had, the bill would have been $48--without tip, which seems a little much. We did end up eating breakfast upstairs in the lobby, which was still a little expensive, but ended up being a good convenient choice each morning. Having said all that, I understand the need to make money off a captive audience ($9 bottled water in the room; $14 movies, etc.) but it starts to come off as a little ridiculous. Other than that, I highly recommend the Swissotel.

European style in the heart of Chicago
Really nice room, clean and stylish. Awesome views. Beautiful bathroom with seperate tub and shower, all done in travertine marble tile. The desk is well-equipped, with internet and power connections underneath, within reach. Bed was extremely comfortable. Very reasonably priced as well.

Unhappy with extra charge for pool...
When I was searching for hotels, I picked this one because of the great swimming pool they have it. When I d checked in, they told me that I would have to pay $15,00 to use the fitness room/pool facilities. I did not like that and I felt mislead. It is a nice hotel but I would not stay there again.

Location Location and good service
The checking was quick as was checkout. One concierge ([...]) was fantastic in finding us last minute reservations at a restaurant, Vermilion, that he recommended. It was fantastic and we really appreciated his help. The location is right in the Loop with many things within walking distance (restaurants, boat tours, Millennial Park, Art Institute and so on). Pricing wasn't bad at all considering the location. Would happily give them custom again. My only complaints would be the elevators and the for pay internet. Cheaper hotels and motels include internet with the room and I tire of higher end places charging for it. I didn't use it so I cannot attest to the quality of the wifi. The elevators are in the middle of being converted to a new system (they weren't under construction but 2 of 6 elevators had the "new" stuff). You type in your floor before boarding which doesn't sound bad, but we were left waiting 10 minutes for an elevator. A bit ridiculous.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Vermilion is an Indian-Latin fusion restaraunt. My lady and I had the tasting menu (each shared the meat and seafood tasting menus). Not everything hit for me but very few didn't. It was a fantastic taste experience. Not two flavours you'd think would go together but it worked beautifully. Highly recommend their spin on cocktails. The Fresh Lime Pear + Green Chili cocktail is surprisingly wonderful.

Great location
The location of the hotel was great...within walking distance from the magnificent mile and navy pier. The only thing I was not satisfied with was the pool and fitness area cost an extra $15 a day per person.

Great room, amenities & location for$$$
I was only there for a few days, but the room was spotless with many nice features. The view was stunning and I didn't even pay extra for the lake view (which would have been even more fantastic). Only complaint was the extra charge for internet. Come on, it's 2010 already. Are you going to charge me extra for my TV next?
