great weekend trip

Had a great experience with this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Husband and I went down for a last-of-summer weekend getaway to see the museum and other Lincoln history. The hotel is a perfect place to stay for walking to the museum and Lincolns house. It was nice to not have to pay for a cab (like our trip to New York) or to have to get in the car and drive everywhere. We couldnt have had a nicer visit to Springfield. The hotel room was large and comfortable and the HD tv was awesome. Only one drawback, the train that goes through several times during the night, blowing its horn. It was a little distracting but tolerable

Nice clean hotel

Hotel is nice, has a Starbucks & Bennigan's inside, which is helpful. There aren't too many Starbuck's in Springfield. My main complaint is that the internet connection is not that great.

WOW - NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

My experience at the Hilton Springfield Hotel was nothing short of horrible. First let's talk about my check-in experience. It was a busy day, but waiting 2o minutes seemed a little long. I am not sure why it was taking so long, but I can tell you, there were a lot of people in the line besides me who were not very happy. My room was fine, except the internet didn't work and the noise level from a wedding party group seemed to go on until late that night. My call to the front desk didn't seem to have any effect or find me a fix for the internet. When I woke up the next morning, I found that there was absolutely zero hot water. I called the front desk and the phone was not being picked up. I was scheduled to tape a TV interview in exactly one hour; I was forced to check out without taking a shower. When I checked out, I mentioned my concern, and expressed my frustration about the lack of hot water and the fact that nobody picked up the phone at the front desk. The very nice lady said ok, yea, we don't have any hot water this morning, sorry, well, here is your receipt, have a good day. I keep getting the feeling that customer service has become something you need to pay extra for, like pillows on airlines. I guess this is what I should expect when a hotel becomes a franchise…Motel 6 is a franchise, at least they leave the hot water on for ya.

How rude!

This place was horrible for an [...] Traveler. First they tell me that even though my [...] receipt says I booked a rate that includes breakfast, that they don't know what I'm talking about and won't give me what I paid for. We got the manager involved, and he finally gave us tickets for breakfast. For a Hilton, they had absolutely no manners! Then we're trying to sleep later, and of course there are kids running around the hotel at 2am.Breakfast was hardly worth the argument with the manager. The wait staff was absolutely wonderful, but the food itself was pretty terrible. The pool was also pointless. For a hotel like that, I would expect something a little bigger than a backyard pool with no jacuzzi. It also didn't help that when we attempted to visit the pool there were about a half dozen small children screaming at the top of their longs while beating each other with foam tubes. And of course, you have to pay for parking. It's not bad at $5.50 a day, but it adds up when you're alreadyOverall, not impressed.

Springfield IL, Hilton--Great Breakfast

The buffet breakfast is outstanding. Everything from traditional breakfast, eggs and bacon and waffles, to a variety of cheeses, hams and even smoked salmon.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel descripion should include that parking is a for pay garage adjacent to the hotel. It's $5.50 to park overnight, which could add up for an extended stay. Also, the downtown area has lots of one-way streets and it takes some trial and error to find the garage entrance on the west side and you must be coming in south bound.
