Howard Johnson Inn and Suites Springfield

Positive experience. Good value, room was nothing spectacular but it was clean and comfortable. Staff at front desk was helpful. Only problem was the tub in bathroom didn't drain while showering.

Motel was isolated. You would need to drive to get anywhere. There was free WiFi.

This hotel is always clean and friendly! Nothing fancy but a comfortable place to stay when we show horses at the fairgrounds nearby. Breakfast is nice in the morning. I like to eat and get going!

At check-in, I was required to leave a card number for "incidentals," but there are none - no pay TV, no room service, nothing I could see I'd have to leave it for. When I received the paperwork to sign, there were a few sneaky fees that would be charged at a daily rate and which would be removed from the bill only if requested at check-out. That's ridiculous, so I refused to authorize them. The room was clean and quiet, but I was getting a call I needed to take, and when I was expecting it, the phone had troubles and wouldn't ring in. The solution offered by staff was for a man to wander up to my room with the handset of a cordless phone, which only had reception outside and about 15' from the room, which was far from satisfactory, and since I paid more than $20 for the experience, I was annoyed. I left at 5:30 am since my phone kept giving one loud ring every few minutes starting at 4:45. I went to the front desk, no one was there, so I tossed the key over the counter and left. I later called to verify that nothing more was needed of me. I was told that as long as I was fine with the charges on my receipt, while I did not receive one since no one was at the front desk. I eventually managed to extract that I wouldn't be charged, time will tell. I've traveled to Springfield many times, but never stayed here before. Having done so once, it's a mistake I won't make again.

Room was smelly and floor was creaky, like it may have once been flooded. There WERE water damage spots on the ceiling. Sheets were old and thin and blanket had holes in it. We left a special pillow that belonged to us, and we called them three (3) times trying to get them to mail it to us at OUR expense, but they said "they didn't have time" to do that for us. We even said we would send them a prepaid postage label, but they wouldn't do it because the "didn't have a box" and "didn't have time". Well .... we don't have time to waste going back to this terrible hotel!

Room was not fancy but clean. the employees were very friendly and helpful.

Great Hotel. Friendly staff. Would probably stay at this location in the future. Short drive to downtown attractions.

lobby very nice. rooms terrible: cracked sink, old, old beds, fitted sheet too small for bed and would not stay on mattress. bed spread dirty, we never use them any way, but still!! phone on night stand did not work, looked like they took a vaccume and maybe ran it over walk path. dust and dirt on carpet unreal. typical party hotel. not very happy.

Our room was filthy! There was a hairball attached to the hair dryer in the bathroom (not to mention hair strands in the bath tub). The carpet had multiple stains.

Friendly and courteous. No problems. Clean place. No microwave or fridge in the room, but there are suites with those for additional cost. I would stay here again.
