Unexpected pleasure

Having formerly lived in South Bend, we never used the local hotels. This one was clearly geared for football weekends, but in early March it was really cheap and a ton for the price. The standard room was very large (it was just me and my wife but we could have slept our four younger kids on the sofa bed and the floor). We loved the pool towels provided in the room - they're so big that I used one as a blanket when I was cold (we didn't have the heat up very high). There was no breakfast, which kind of made sense because the hotel wasn't very busy. If we ever need to stay overnight in South Bend again, we will definitely return. And, it's practically across the street from Ritter's Frozen Custard.

Couldn't have been better

We went to Mishawaka to visit an ailing relative and ended up being there for a funeral. The location was perfect. Near hospital, funeral home, restaurants, and shopping (for necessities). The staff could not have been more wonderful. All extended family members ended up booking rooms. After hearing of the death in the family, the staff sent flowers and cards of condolence to our rooms. After the funeral, we enjoyed watching Purdue and Notre Dame basketball games on the big screen TV. The staff helped one family find a 24 hour medical facility when a baby had a temp. Everyone in our group raved about this facility. (The sports memorabilia was an added bonus.) We couldn't understand why it had been given a 2 star rating. Everyone in our family would give it a 5+ rating. We will never stay anywhere else when we visit the area.

great family time

This was our family's second stay at this hotel. This time, I booked a few rooms for family coming in for a wedding. The kids enjoyed the pool, exercise room & hot tub. The staff was super & had all our rooms together. We were able to use their big pool table room to host a gathering The staff provided me with an electric frypan to make some meals in since our units weren't the "cooking units" with stoves. The beds were comfy, but the sofa beds weren't sturdy enough for adults, so the kids slept on them. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Can't turn down an upgrade!

This was the second time in 6 weeks that I've stayed there, and both times the room was perfect. This time, I was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite for less than the price of a discounted standard room. The kitchenette in both rooms comes fully stocked with appliances (toaster, blender, can/wine/bottle openers, dishes, dish rack/soap/towels, everything like home without an oven! The only complaint we have is that the pillows are HUGE and we both found them far too firm and thick. This time we brought our own pillows.

The Edy Street Commons (across from the Notre Dame campus) has some delicious restaurants! The Mark has very creative cusine and McAlisters Deli is perfect for lunch.

Great Night in South Bend, IN

My wife and I stayed at the Varsity Clubs of America in South Bend, IN for only one night. We were delighted with the suite we were given. All of the appliances worked well, the rooms were clean, there was a patio (albeit small) that we didn't expect, and the staff was very courteous and helpful. All in all, a great experience.

Awesome!!

I stayed here the night before my wedding and the wedding night. Everyone was so nice and excited that I was getting married. The rooms were clean and good size. It was enough room for several bridal party members to get ready and for me to move around comfortable in my dress. My new husband saw the room on the wedding night and he loved it! Everyone that saw us wished us Congratulations! It was the best place I have ever stayed.
