Weekend visiting the inlaws!!

We weren't too impressed with the hotel. There was a wedding party staying on the same floor as us and noise level was out of control. We had to ask them to be quiet a few times. Probably won't stay there again!

You get what you pay for

For the price I paid, I expected a lot worse than what I got. The lobby and other public areas initially had me concerned about the cleanliness of my room. However, I was surprised to see that my room was VERY clean and in order. The bed was very comfortable, full cable television. The room also came with a mini fridge and microwave, which I did not use, nor look inside to inspect. The staff was friendly and my stay was quite nice.

The good, bad and the ugly

The hotel was old, dirty and smelled. I will not stay there again. They did not have my reservation. There was no ice. They did not have vending machines. There was only one staff member who was nice but she had only been working there a few months and couldn't tell me anything.

The bad and the ugly

This had to be one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed inn. It was not well kept, it was unclean, and did not have all the amenities that would describe online.

Great Rate for the what they offer

The staff were extremely helpful and quite nice. Our room was very large and clean with a nice view of the river. Beds were comfortable and the location was great. I attended a conference at the Riverfront Convention Center which is attached to the hotel so I couldn't beat the commute. They have a great lunch buffet at the hotel. I have friends in Central Louisiana and plan to bring the wife back for a weekend.

Disappointment and bafflement

Our first trip to Alexandria was to attend graduation for our granddaughter/niece from the Youth Challenge Program held in the convention center attached to the hotel. In hindsight, we would not book at this hotel again even though it is the most convenient location for the graduation. It was rated as a 3 star hotel. It shouldn't be more than a one star. I traveled with my sister and brother-in-law and we both had to change rooms before we were very basically satisfied with the accommodations. The first little inconvenience was when our request to be located on the same floor was denied but we accepted their reasoning for this. My sister and brother-in-law were first given a room that was supposed to have a king size bed but only had a double bed. They were given another room on the same floor that was satisfactory for the night. I was first given a room with two queen size beds but the sink was stopped up and when the toilet flushed it leaked on the floor from the bottom of the commode. The front desk told me they would send up a maintenance person but I refused that and requested another room instead. They brought me two keys for rooms on the same floor from which to choose. The closest one to my original room had a deadbolt lock that didn't work and the TV remote didn't work. I then looked at the room further down the hall. It appeared to be okay and I used it. Next morning while taking a shower I realized that the tub didn't drain well and I was standing in ankle deep water while showering. Also the paint was peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom. However, the bed was comfortable and clean. We also had issues with gaining information about the restaurant and it's menu for the day of the graduation and the offerings (or lack of) for the continental breakfast. Several other patrons who were also attending the graduation had similar or worse experiences, including dirty bed linens, little or no water for showers and unknowledgeable staff. I have to say that the staff was pleasant and sometimes helpful (i.e. giving driving directions)they just weren't efficient and knowledgeable about the facilities. Management was very bad and the facility was in disrepair. Perhaps that is the reason for the dim lighting throughout the hotel. I highly suggest that the raters who gave it 3 stars visit again anonymously.
