We checked in on New Years Day, also happened to be a Saint's home game and had to wait an hour, but the room was clean, made up, extra cot in place very quickly. The staff are great!!!! Very courteous and helpful. It is 1 block from Bourbon Street and a few blocks from Jackson Square so an easy walk. Best thing is that we parked the car and didn't have to drive again until we checked out. You can go eat, explore with your camera, shop. Then easily drop everything off in your room and out for the evening on Bourbon or Frenchman (a 20 - 30 minute walk). I would stay here again.

Description
Located in the Heart of the French Quarter, the Bourbon Orleans features classic Southern Charm with styling reminiscent of the French Opulence of the early 1800's. With its central location - directly behind the famed St. Louis Cathedral, the hotel offers direct access to the upscale shopping on Royal Street, the fortune tellers and street performers of Jackson Square, cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde, and of course the decadence of Bourbon Street. As a Historic Hotel, each unique guestroom has its own charm and grace. However, all of the rooms feature modern amenities including in room safes and complementary local calls and bottled water. The Bourbon Orleans is currently undergoing renovations throughout the remainder of the year to their guest rooms. The hotel will remain open and ensures minimum disruption for its guests. Parking charge is $32 plus taxes per night with a $4 plus tax surcharge on large vehicles. Oversized vehicles are assessed an additional $4 per day plus 12% sales tax on top of the prevailing valet parking daily rate. Parking rates are subject to change without notice and special valet parking rates apply during special events. We advise calling the front desk thirty minutes in advance to allow ample time for our valet to retrieve the guest's vehicle.

Enjoyable vacation spot in an unique city

  • Desai Verified Customer

Hotel is in the heart of French Quarter in NO and conveniently located for enjoying the city, food site seeing. The only problem was that the hotel initially refused to honor the inclusion of breakfast in the paid room rate. We had to fight for it and they approved after contacting the travel agency. We had to show the proof that travel agency had given us that deal with inclusion of breakfast. Restaurant staff was very courteous and food quality was very good. They tried to give us the room right near the service elevator which we refused. The construction was supposed to be over but was still going on.

Have been going to The Quarter for several years and this was the first stay at Le Marais. Our room was very nice, clean, comfortable etc. The morning continental breakfast was great, plenty of choices and all good. Loved the courtyard and pool area. You are half a block from all the excitement of Bourbon and the courtyard is so quiet. The staff was so nice. From the moment we checked in until we checked out three days later, the staff was wonderful. Can't wait to go back!

This was our second time staying at this hotel. The staff is excellent, the complimentary breakfast has enough choices for even the pickiest eater, and the location is great. It's one block from Bourbon Street, yet you can't hear any of the revelry in your room. Our only complaint would be that both times we booked online and got a room whose view was of a brick wall. There are many charming courtyard views, but I guess you have to call personally to get those rooms, as they were not available to switch to when we arrived.

I loved the fact that it's in an old building, so it has courtyards and character. It is only a block away from Bourbon Street but it's extremely quiet at night. It's a great location if you're interested in checking out the French Quarter. Very walkable distance to Canal Street (and the Canal streetcar), Jackson Square, the French Market, Bourbon Street, and so on.

I always stay at the St. Peter House every time I go to NOLA, but I am practically a local. If you are from out of town and experiencing New Orleans for the first time, this place will not be for you. It has a charm all its own. The staff is pretty aloof, but has always been helpful. The location is great! The rooms are not the nicest, but if you are truly enjoying New Orleans, you are never in the hotel anyway. If its your first visit, pick somewhere else cause you will hate it. But if you frequent New Orleans and are looking for a good value for your stay, you will love it.

Great value but watch construction!

For the location, price, and room it was a good value. Just don't let them put you on the 3rd floor! Construction starts weekdays promptly at 7:30am. Loud demo work woke me up when I was dying for some sleep after a night out. Staff is aware of this problem but still book people there to make a buck. Such a shame...won't do anything about it either except switch your room if you ask. Had to pack up and move with 1 day left in our stay.

We spent just one night at the close of a Caribbean cruise. Because we arrived mid-morning from our cruise ship, we were required to check our luggage and wait for 3 hours before our room was ready. The time was spend profitably walking around the French Quarter which was loaded with football fans awaiting the NFL game about to commence. When we finally entered our room, we found it nicely redecorated with a particularly fine re-model of the bath. Although a bit crowded the room was quite comfortable with a king size bed and a modern LCD TV. The staff was very accommodating when we inadvertently mis-locked the small safe. We would certainly stay at the Monteleone again.

The front desk guy was rude because he said he couldnt find my reservation. He was like thats what happens when you book on the same day. I told him excuse me but I booked this 2 weeks ago. Then my room a/c didnt work. So I had to get another room. The lighting in this placed sucked. I understand that the building is very old but they can still do some updates. The remote to the tv had tape on the back of it. The only good thing about this hotel is that the location is awesome close to everything.

My experience at the hotel was very pleasant. Everyone who worked there was helpful and friendly. I did not have any problems checking into the hotel. I was concerned prior to leaving on the trip because when I called to confirm my reservation I was told that orb. had not put in my request for the non-smoking side view balcony room. So the hotel reservationist told me she would put in a Smoking room side balcony Request but that it was not guaranteed. I told her I paid extra to get the non-smoking balcony room and she said Orb. could not guarantee that room BUT as I said when I arrived, I had the room I paid for through Orb. All went very smoothly. Would stay at hotel again and book through Orb.

I stayed here for new years and it was a great experience! Perfect walking distance from all the fun. Due to some construction and an imperfect gps unit I had a little trouble finding the place, also the breakfast was kind of lacking. All the same the breakfast was free so I shouldn't really complain. The room was very clean and spacious. I recommend it as a great place to stay.

now if you want to just experience the french quarter this is a great hotel to set as your base of opperations. the lobby was amazing with a very good restraunt. i recently became health concious and was very impressed with their excersise room it was not only large but it had over a dozen treadmills and othe excersise machines. you are literally within walking distant of many great things from bourbon street to the casino canal street has it all. just keep in mind the homeless are pretty aggresive and dont give up easy and you wil get approached by shoe shine men performance artists and people trying to sell you their demo cd so be prepared to be on the defensive but if u wanna eat drink and be merry the marriot on canal street is where it's at.

The shower water could have been a little warmer but overall we were impressed and delighted. I would gladly stay again and recommend to friends and family.

Great Place to stay In NOLA

  • Kleckel Verified Customer
  • 2 Feb 2012
When we pulled up to the hotel, I was really excited to see the charm of Hotel St. Marie. It had oil lanterns and ferns that ran the length of the building. The entrance and lobby were beautiful as well. Absolutely great location!! It is close enough to walk anywhere in New Orleans, but still removed enough (one block over) from Bourbon Street to get some sleep and stay away from the chaos. Staff was knowledgable and friendly, greeted us every time they saw us and asked if we were enjoying our time. Rooms were fairly standard. We got the balcony which overlooked the beautiful patio and pool area. Showers were a bit tempermental with heat, but seemed to improve the longer we were there. Cleaning staff was prompt daily and helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend Hotel St. Marie to friends/family.

This was our first trip to New Orleans, and honestly we weren't sure what to expect. We searched for a room with the best reviews in our budget and we were not let down. The staff is awesome! The location is perfect, super quiet and within walking distance to everything. The rooms were clean and large. The courtyards are gorgeous. The man staying next door said he has been to New Orleans more times than he can count, and said he would only stay in this hotel. I have to agree, we will stay here again!! The only let downs were breakfast was minimal and parking is $30 a night.

When we checked in we found the standard room we had reserved to be without any windows making it dark and stuffy. The desk clerk indicated no other rooms were available at the time but if we would go have lunch and come back in 2 hrs she would have another room available. The new room was very nice and well worth the $25 a day additional charge. The location in the French Quarter was close to everything without being too noisy, a plus for us. Every year I attend the New Orleans Jazzfest. Over the course of 23 years of staying in various hotels & guest houses there, I can honestly say that this is one of my favorites. The place is exactly how it describes itself on their site. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay special. They even handled moving me to another hotel since I was staying in town longer than they had availablity.[...] at the desk and [...] at the door knew us by name every time we went in or out of the hotel. The rooms are clean and charming. Coffee in the morning is best enjoyed along side of the courtyard pool. In spite of being in the pulse of the French Quarter and in the same block as the House of Blues, I found the rooms quiet at night. I am planning on returning to this jewel.

A quaint hotel

We enjoyed the hotel. The room was very quaint. Very old New Orleans style. The room was in one of the cottages. The room was well air conditioned. We had a room with two double beds. One of the beds had a broken bedframe so it was not level and rather lumpy. The pool was small but clean. It was very quiet so we could sleep in in the morning if we wanted to.

"The good, the bad, and the sorta ugly"

The Hotel was mainly for sleeping as there is plenty to do in New Orleans. The Staff seems to have fun, get the job done for the most part and have fun but were a bit too casual for the general patron. I personally didn't mind but I overheard others sidehanded comments. The rooms were typically small but by booking thru [...]I was able to upgrade to a bigger room very cheaply. One negative was the blinds didn't block the sunlight - just the intense rays. I like to sleep in and couldn't with a 5am sunrise. The rooms were also not well maintained which was supposed to be charming but made me feel it was run down. It was unique in many regards such as having many small pools.Over all I wasn't disappointed but that was due to the decent price I got for the room size I stayed in.
