Very quiet area and well run establishment

We are ex military maybe that is why the location on a recently repurposed Navy Base appealed to us. The lack of traffic and noise was a special contrast to the activity of the French Quarter. The free ferry to Canal Street was one of the great parts of our stay. The room was five stars in my book. No granite. But roomier with a tiny kitchenette and sitting area.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The ferry from Algiers Point to the French Quarter. For cars $5.00 but what do you do with a car in the French Quarter? There is a great little parking lot ($5.00 a day) close to the ferry.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

A short drive from the hotel is the ferry, if you have a car for your stay in New Orleans pay the small parking fee and take the ferry over, you will save money and headaches plus you get a relaxing ride over and back and when the ferry docks alot of stuff is in walking distance and there are plenty of ways to get around such as the trolley, carriages, cabs etc. and they are lots of fun. Also if you plan to use the trolley get an all day pass for $3.00 instead of paying $1.25 every time you get on.

Perfect place to rest

If you're looking for anything more than a place to get a good night's rest, this may not be the place for you. Nothing fancy, but it's in a quiet area and a short drive to the Algiers ferry gets you across the river to Canal St and the edge of the French Quarter with ease. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Algiers Point Ferry is a short drive from the hotel. A short ride across the river puts you on Canal Street at Harrah's Casino. $1 fee for cars on the ferry or pay $5 for all day parking and walk onto the ferry for free. No need to find parking in the chaos on the other side of the river. Note: for big events, that $5 parking jumps to $20. Still likely better than what you'd pay on the other side.

FANTASTIC!!!

I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. I was a little weary getting a hotel that was not centered around Bourbon street or the french quarter; however, I just could not afford those prices. The staff at this hotel was absolutely fantastic. They called cabs for us and gave us directions on how to get to some places around the city. The cab ride to the free ferry (ferry takes you to canal st.; close to bourbon st and the french quarter) is about $8.00. You would pay that there and back. There is parking by the ferry for about $10 for the whole day though. If you want to go from the hotel to downtown there is a strict $15-$20 fee each way. Overall though very nice cab drivers either way you decide. We did pretty much everything. Back on the hotel ... the beds were very comfortable and the room was equipped with a nice microwave, dishes, small fridge, etc. They make sure to come by every day to clean your room. They were very kind not to touch our personal belongings but cleaned the place spotless. Overall I can not say enough good things about this place. No there is no pool BUT its NEW ORLEANS BABY :) For the famalies :) ... safe neighborhood its within in old navy base. I would say this is a MUST STAY in NOLA.

Nightlife tip: Not Applicable

Go get a hand grenade from the Tropical Isle and check out the beach ... The Ghost tours are really fun and there is also a tour that does around the 9th ward. Mother's Restaurant is a good place to eat and safe walking distance in downtown. (tours are not too expensive about $20/person.
