Hotel Mazarin (formerly Hotel St Louis)

The hotel was purchased in 2011 and totally remodeled from top to bottom. It opened recently under the new name Hotel Mazarin (check your French history) and it is great. Perfect location by Bourbon street and walking distance to the convention center. The hotel has a nice gym, courtyard, breakfast, and is attached to a great bar. Not a Bourbon street bar but one with good wine and bar tenders that know how to make a cocktail. The rooms were very nice with tile floors. Brand new amenities across the board including television, iPhone compatible clocks, television, and WiFi. The WiFi was free but offered by iBahn so it may become a fee service in the future. The rooms included a safe at no extra charge.

great oasis in the french quarter

Despite it's worryingly close location to Bourbon Street I was pleasantly surprised by the tranquil atmosphere created at Hotel Mazarin. Great breakfast, amazing staff, lovely room. I'd recommend asking for a room at the back.

Needs some help

The hotel is very nice, great location, etc. My issue was the extremely LONG wait that I had to get my room and check in. It took well over 2 hours past the time that I was promosed the room would be ready. Not only that, the customer service- even from their manager, was not acceptable. He kept providing me excuses of why the room was't ready, including that they were totally booked the night before. Really?! Shouldn't they be able to handle that? Only after we requested him to go up to our room and physically double check that it was ready, did he have a room available. 2 hours of wasted time is definitely something to complain about while on vacation! Very disapointing and disrespectful to us as guests in a 4 star hotel.

Too noisy

The hotel rooms were very simple, but nice. Hotel staff was very polite and accommodating, however it was way too noisy. Between the street noise, and the courtyard, it didn't quiet down till early morning. It was horrible.

Nice hotel, great location

This hotel was recently remodeled and the updates make it very nice and comfortable. The rooms were clean and attractive with an upscale feel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the courtyard with included breakfast was great. For someone wanting to be near Bourbon Street this location is ideal. Not too loud, but a block away from the action. You do still get plenty of street noise with an outside room though.

Lunch at Galatoire's on Bourbon is unbeatable. You have to dress up (wear a jacket guys) but it's the quintessential New Orleans experience.

Great spot in the French Quarter

Arrived in NOLA for mardi gras during a mild storm, after walking from the CBD with my luggage in tow, I found the hotel with ease, just off of Burbon street. The looby was nothing special however once I got into my room, I was pleasantly surprised to find the granite floors, freshly painted and trimmed room, large comfortable bed, large tv and wonderfully spacious bathroom. This place gets high marks from me and I plan on boking this hotel next year for Mardi Gras again. I also used the gym facility and though it is small at least you can get a workout in and all of the equipment is brand new. Just around the corner from the hotel is Cafe Beignet which is convenient for breakfast.
