great location in NOLA
Great deal for the price. Ecexellent location (five minutes walk to the French Quater and 15 minutes walk to the Riverwalk. Very nice and knowledgeable hotel staff. Beds were not very comfortable (too soft). No wireless internet in the room, but available in the lobby (many very comfortable chairs plus electrical outlets available next to the chairs)

No wireless-internet connection overpriced
There were inconsistencies as to what amenities were listed when we made reservations. NO continental breakfast even tho their website lists it as included with the type of room we had. There was only 1 bathrobe and 2 people in the room. Everything was clean but we had to set the ac on 62 to get some cool air. I cringe when i see those 1 cup coffee makers in hotel rooms. So we walked a block to a coffeehouse where they had free wi-fi! There's NO wi-fi at this hotel and an ethernet connection costs more than the stuff in the minibar! Also, in their guest book it says a newspaper would be delivered to our door every morning. Never saw one. The beds are awesome comfortable and plenty of hot water but an old fashioned showerhead. Also, there was a shortage of outlets in the room. We had 2 phones, an ipad, nook, and laptop that had to be charged. When we were searching we actually saw extension cords plugged in! The staff were all very professional and friendly.

Great location for BCS National Championship Game.
I know this was an unusually crowded weekend, but I booked this hotel expecting certain amenities. Upon arrival rather than having valet parking as advertised, I was given directions to a parking lot many blocks away and told to drive in horrible traffic to this location & pay the attendant $35.00 per day(3 day min. for a total of $105.00). However, the attendant at this distant lot, insisted that the price was $120.00 and after we resisted paying the escalated price, she finally said, "Okay, $105.00", shrugged her shoulders and said, "Oh well, I tried." Also, the hotel advertised on their web site that a deluxe room came with complimentary continental b'fast & newspaper--neither was honored.

Great Trip!
Staying at the Intercontinental was a great time for my family and I. The locaiton is great, not too close to the quarter yet not too far away! Also, there is a great market down the street. The hotel is top when it comes to customer service. Even the bellman who brought our bags to the room, he asked if we wanted ice and went to get it for us. Everyone from front desk to valet was nice and helpful. The hotel is old, but nice. Room needs a little upgrading, furniture was stained and beds were old and lopsided. All in all, it was a great place for a stay in New Orleans. I would recommend.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Huck Finns on Decatur was a restaurant that we stumbled upon and got in without a wait. The breakfast is amazing! Shrimp and grits or crawfish scramble, either one you can't go wrong. Dinner was tasty too!

Great location for Bourbon Street and Harrah's
Room was appropriately sized with a King bed. Room was in need of a lounge chair. View of parking lot was not appealing but didn't spend much time in hotel room so not important. Within short walking distance to "hot spots". Felt safe. Staffed well in numbers except at bar lounge in lobby. Would not hesitate to stay at this location again when in New Orleans.
