wouldn´t choose it again

The hotel is not in a bad location but it´s old and need remodeling. WE couldn´t sleep properly because we felt the place wasn´t clean... there were hairs in the shower, the cover was old and dirty, sheets were stiff, the shower didn´t drain... All in all, we wouldn´t go back .

Rock and Roll Marathon 5 day Weekend Early March 2012

This place was great, an awesome find. Having never traveled to New Orleans I didn't really know where to stay and just knew I wanted to be close to the French quarter but also not on bourbon street. I searched high and low to find a nice place to stay. I was looking for location first to narrow it down and then cleanliness. This place was perfect, 3 blocks (3 minute walk) from Canal street and all of the buzz. We were greeted by the concierge, Glen. Glen was the man, gave us plenty of directions and recommended a place to eat. At first I was skeptical because I assumed it was some crazy tourist trap but in fact the food was excellent. The service was top notch. For all who are curious we ate at Oceaniana and our waitress was Peggy. From there on out I asked the Glen and the hotel staff for recommendations. The evening staff and weekend staff was the most helpful! I will be going back down next year for this event again and will stay there again. Very reasonable and just nice as an other hotel.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the trolley into the garden district. It's the green trolley and it runs down St. Charles Ave. It was very cool to see all the old plantation homes and just see outside downtown plus the trolley is a great experience. Buy the day pass when you get on from exact change of $3 and ride it all the way to the end and then wait for the surprise and come back on the same trolley. The whole ride is about an hour and well worth it.

Johnnys Po-Boys. This is a popular restaurant but I would not recommend it. The place is filthy. They hadnt taken a mop to the floors in forever. Food was good but surroundings were extremely unappetizing and overshadowed how good the food was.

Great location

The only issue we had with this hotel was the bathroom. The sink and shower didn't drain well at all. Also we had to replace the towels a few times because they smelled a bit musty. Other than that it was great. The staff was really nice and super helpful. You were within walking distance of everything. We walked to the river front, the french quarter, St Louis Cemetary and more.

Long weekend trip

We had a wonderful experience here. First off we got an upgrade to a suite, which was roomy and comfortable. Just out of the craziness of Canal St and the French Quarter, but an easy walk to everything you want to see! If you're not much into trekking it, the street cars are just two blocks away. Great value!

New Orleans anniversary trip

We recently celebrated our 30th anniversary with a trip to New Orleans. Our hotel, while not fancy, is located within walking distance of Canal Street, the French Quarter, and trollley and bus lines. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Our room was upgraded to a suite, an unexpected bonus! We bought bus/ trolley passes and were able to visit many sites: zoo, aquarium, insectarium, WWII museum, French Market, university and Garden Districts.. too many to list. Also did a Natchez boat ride and took a Honey Island Swamp tour. Fun! Would return to New Orleans in a heartbeat, and recommend this hotel if luxury is not your priority.

Go to a trolley stop or drug store and purchase multiple-day bus and trolley passes. Very convenient, and saves the need for a car rental.
