Traveler not Tourist

I am a traveler, not a tourist. A true traveler absorbs the sites, sounds, cuisine and culture. They thrive on the historic and quaint. They feel the soul of the place where they are. The Rathbone Inn has such a soul. It is a historic place. It was exactly what I wanted. It was clean, well kept, comfortable and charming. The owner has been careful to try and maintain the look of a period. She was friendly and accommodating, and makes some of the best homemade muffins I've ever tasted. My wife and I will stay there again. Three blocks to the French Market. One block to "Port of Call" resturant. Ten minute walk to some of the best jazz bars. Don't expect great water pressure in the neighborhoods around the French Quarter though.

I agree with the reviewers that stated they would give this site less than one star if they could. The management was not professional, the shower had no water pressure, and the location was far from public transportation. For the same rate, I could have had better accommodation in the French Quarter. Again, an experience not worth repeating...

Rude, unprofessional management. Out of way location without public transportation, overpriced compared to rooms in better locations.

Don't Book this Hotel!!

My friends & I recently stayed at the Rathbone Inn and if I could give it less than one star I would!! The pictures that are posted does NOT resemble the actual rooms whatsoever!! Upon entry the comforters were not clean & had cigarette burn holes (even though the room is suppose to be non-smoking). The bathroom is extremely small & was not clean. Room service did not change the sheets our entire stay. The TV (OMG) was NOT a flat screen that is stated in the room description. In fact is was a 19 in. TV with the guts and the buttons to change the channels & volume were all pushed in. The remote that was in the room did not even work, so to turn the TV on we had to take a pen to push through the opening to turn the TV on and we didn't even bother to change the channel the whole time we were there. They offer free breakfast, however, if you are staying in the Rathbone mansion I, you have to walk across the street to the Rathbone II to eat breakfast. We stayed on the 2nd floor and had to lug our heavy suitcases up and down the stairs. The iron framed bed was not sturdy. They offer free parking, but what they DO NOT tell you is that they only have about 2 parking spaces behind the mansion, so you would have to park on the street (if you can find a spot to park that's not a tow away zone). The only plus about this place was the location. It is very close & within walking distance to the French Quarter, Jackson Square & the room did have a microwave & fridge. Other than this everything else SUCKED!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone staying here!! If you plan on partying and you just want a place to lay your head for cheap, then this might be the place.
