No frills but clean, nice, and sufficient
Staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the hotel was in a good location--just a few blocks from Union Square and right near Chinatown. The room was clean and had sufficient amenities, but the best part was the complimentary wine reception in the evening. Overall, a good price for the value.

Beautiful Old Building
Hotel has not been kept up. Wallpaper is in disrepair. Housekeeping left dirty towels on the floor and did not provide kleenex, or bags for the ice. On the second day they didn't even come to clean the room. It is located in the financial district, which is filled with empty and foreclosed buildings. It is in walking distance of the wharf and Fell's Point if you are very aware of your surroundings when walking around at night, and easy access to the Charm City Circulator.

Blue Moon Cafe in Fell's Point for breakfast. You will wait for a table, but the owner Sarah, who waits on tables, makes it well worth it.

Good for conference travel
Overall, it was a nice room. The sleep number beds are quite comfortable, and the wireless internet is included in the price (always a bonus.) Given the proximity to the Baltimore Conference Center, this is a reasonable hotel for business travelers.

Better than expected
The room was very nice for the $80+taxes/night I spent. The bed was very comfortable. Internet worked. Check in is at 3:00 but I could leave bags when I arrived at 10am and I was able to check in by 2 actually. My experience of the restaurant and cafe was very bad. The cafe served a stale croissant and I could barely get service at the restaurant for breakfast. When I did order, the meal came without potatoes even though the menu clearly stated they should. i was told the cooks don't usually add them unless someone asks/complains! I got some cold hash browns after that. Sleep here but go elsewhere for food.

Decent Stay
The hotel was alright. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. It was average. I arrived late at night and it was hard to find. Combination of things: late, tired, dark, hotel is on a one way street. I called the hotel for help and they were great!

Good location, Aesthetics not its strong point
This was a decent hotel and it came at a reasonable price. I wouldnt rush back here but if short on money and big on ideas I might consider again. Essentially you get what you pay for and for this location its not bad at all. Just consider the tradeoffs before booking. (The Baltimore Marriott at Waterfront may be a nice alternative if $ is no issue and aesthetics/ comfort are priorities). Standard rooms are average size but acceptable. Unfortunately there wasn't any hot water for the shower one of the nights that we stayed there; disappointing given cooler weather. The building itself is a bit old (built in the 1920s?) and it shows...but its certainly not an eyesore. Some might even consider this to be 'charming'. Hotel staff were nice and very helpful; maybe the highlight of this place. Safety note: Don't venture off too far at night on foot. The area appears mostly safe but there are some shady looking characters near the public transportation (subway/ bus) stops. Note that there is a subway station across the street from the hotel...but stay alert. Would recommend walking up to Light Street and head south to get to the Inner Harbor; probably a safer route.

For the beer/ bar food lovers: Check out the Pratt Street Ale House nearby (a few blocks away). Great selection of beers, good food, and a casual/ non-pretentious atmosphere. (Crab cake sandwich was very tasty!)
