visiting Maine

We had a great experience at the Best Western. It started out with us being super early and wasn't expecting to be able to get into our room but they were very accomodating. That let us head to Bar Harbor and Acadia Ntl Park without having to return. The room was very clean and had just what we would need. The continental breakfast was more than we expected and were very happy with it. We would definitely stay again at the Best Western. It was 200% better than the hotel we had stayed at in Portland.

Head to Acadia Ntl Park early in the day if you only plan on spending one day there. Lots of hiking and stops along the drive. Absolutely a must do.

Nice surprise!

Expected run of the mill but our room had recently been fully remodeled. Updated, spotless, modern look (better than the web photos). Location was convenient, a couple miles out of town center and near to a great mini-golf course. Great place for the price.

If you're a foodie check out "Havana" and "Cafe This Way" - both excellent!

Don't Stay Here

As soon as we pulled in, I was disappointed. Completely outdated and old. When we got to the room, my wife said she felt like she was in a room you see in a horror movie. Needs updating bad. Don't think the rooms have seen anything but a cleaning crew in 10-15 years.

Acadia National Park was amazing! Go on the walking trails and drive the loop road. Great scenery, which is what we came for.

Exceeded our expectations

Everyone was very helpful and kind, especially [...] in the breakfast room. She was pleasant and full of recommendations about Acadia. The continental breakfast was a great start to our days of hiking and exploring the park. The location was perfect. The room was nothing spectacular, but a perfect place for us to lay our heads after a busy day hiking.

Great base for exploring Acadia.

Great location just north of Bar Harbor. Short drive to Acadia National Park. Our rooms were spacious, fairly new, quiet, and very clean. The continental breakfast had a large selection of juices, coffee, and pastries, along with a few unexpected treats like (pre-made) french toast and hard-boiled eggs. There were lots of couples and families when we visited. I would have given 5-stars for an overall great value, except that the room wasn't very wheelchair-friendly despite our request. There was a 3.5" threshhold to get in the door, a tight turn into the restroom, no grab bars, and no curb cuts from the nearest parking area to our room. The main part of the room was very spacious and easy to move around.

Take a Nature Cruise from Bar Harbor. We saw seals, a bald eagle, porpoises, and lots of sea birds. The two-hour length was just right.

Across the Trenton Bridge - about 6 miles away from the hotel - is a lobster 'shack'. This was the best lobster and clams I have ever had.
