Harborside hotel
The hotel decided to close the week end that we were supose to be there, so they transfer our reservation to the Harborside Hotel in 55 West street, Bar Harbor. It turned out to be a better location since we were right in town. The amenities were excellente.

Perfect location in Bar Harbor
When we checked in we got an unexpected surprise and was upgraded to a room directly facing the harbor. The hotel is located near shopping and good restaurants. Try the breakfast at 2 Cats Bed and Breakfast...delicious. Also, catch the sunrise on top of Cadillac Mountain...spectacular!! The nature cruise was enjoyable too. We spotted numerous eagles and seals.

Decent Stay
The room was nice and spacious. But little bit noisy. The location was wonderful. It was minutes away from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. It was a decent stay with a decent price.

Mold and unacceptable service
Reserved and paid for a room in main building. First given a room in the Annex. Room was VERY old with poor views etc. Went back the to desk and complained. Then given a room in the main building. When we went to the room, we noticed a large area of black mold in one corner of the room. It was obvious that the mold was from a leak from the door that went to the outside. There had been NO attempt to clean or remove the mold. Went back to the desk a second time and asked to see the manager. The desk person said the manager was "not available" however they were able to find another room for us. To me, it is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel to attempt to downgrade your room (after paying for the more expensive room) and then trying to give you a room that has a major mold infestation. Bottom line is that the hotel has a wonderful location but the service and quality of the hotel is not acceptable.

Great Hotel!

beautiful property, friendly staff
Convenient location, beautiful property, and super friendly staff! The restaurant sits on top of the hill and over-looks the ocean, which is very nice. Not to mention that the food is fantastic. Also, be sure to utilize the heated swimmimg pool at night (I found it to be more relaxing to swim after dark when there is nobody in the pool with you).

Great location around the area
The hotel was very nice and peaceful. The only problem was that there was no elevator to get to the 3rd floor of our hotel room. It was a little bit on the expensive side so if you're on a budget it might not be a good idea.

Nice view, noisy kids!
The housekeeping staff was imported from around the world and worked seven days a week...nice (sarcasm). The hotel was maintained well but when I requested an additional pillow, our first night, it took three calls, eventually to the Manager on Duty to make that simple request happen.
