Not bad at all

Having never been to Belfast Maine I looked this hotel up online. Staying there was everything I expected Clean, and comfortable. The one thing I had a complain about would be the noise from the road out front. (Not anything that the hotel did or didn't do)That being said I would stay again but would just prefer staying in a room in the back of the hotel.

Nice place for a nice price

  • Professional Mom
  • 29 Jan 2011
Their least expensive room was quite nice. Micro, fridge, large TV, nice bath, very clean. The breakfast was more than most "continental" breakfasts. I would have liked more fruit. Great pool, dry sauna, and hot tub. I didn't check the bathrooms at the pool to see if they are more like locker rooms, but something was there. Staff were pleasant. Didn't try the restaurant, but the in room menu looked good and reasonably priced for the area. Pillows were nice, towels good enough. I found the matress uncomfortable, too firm I think, but that's only my preference. It is a way up from the shore and there are a couple of houses between the hotel and the shore. Being winter in Maine, we didn't go down through the two feet of snow to check it out. This was a brief, escape the kids trip, but I think we might bring them sometime for a mini vacation.

limited options

The hotel halls and rooms smell like "sex". I have smelled this same type of odor before from old plastic toilet seats so I am unsure from whence it comes but it is pervasive enough that all in our party were disgusted by it. That said, during off-season, Belfast has few options so this is probably the best. The hall carpets were not vacuumed. It has a dirty feel. Hotel siding ocean side was coming off. Morning buffet was good and Ocean's Edge restaurant has good food.

The main reason for booking this place was the "oceanview" title. It did not disappoint. All of the motel rooms have private balconies that have excellent views.

Very Professional but Bed not so Comfy

  • Chuck
  • 11 Aug 2011
I had the Ruby room with my fiance and although the house is really beautiful well kept and interesting to look all the stuff in it, the queen bed isn't very comfortable for two. It was hard and I felt his every move waking me up a few times. I am a light sleeper so some of it is my problem. It is tolerable though. I don't expect it to be exactly like home. Food was good and the owner/cook works her butt off to keep everything in place and nice for us!

Description
The White House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as part of the Belfast Historic District. The man who built the home, James P. White, and the man who designed it, prestigious architect Calvin Ryder, conspired to make the house one of the most dramatic in Maine. Its unique design, which includes graceful symmetry and the ornamentation of an eight-side cupola, places The White House among the top Greek Revival homes in Maine. The White House proudly holds the honor of being one of the most photographed homes on Maines coast. The homes interior is as beautiful as its outside with ornate plaster ceiling medallions, marble fireplaces, intricate moldings and a sweeping stairway. A beautiful park-like triangle of grounds and gardens surround the regal home. The huge copper beach tree, the largest in Maine, shades the terrace. At the tip of the grounds, sits a delicate arched gazebo, built around the mid-1800s. Check-in is at 3 00 PM. Guests planning to arrive before or after this time must contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive special check-in instructions. As a bed and breakfast property, the Front Desk hours will vary guests should contact the property to find out more information. To contact the property, use the number on the reservation confirmation received after booking.

Seascape Motel

The room was old fashioned and small but SPOTLESSLY clean. We were there to sleep after a long day of sightseeing and travel and it served it's purpose. The muffins in the morning were delicious and the person at the desk was very friendly. There was a little traffic noise but nothing overwhelming. There are also little cottages on site and those looked quite charming, they were however, $40 more per night.
