The location was perfect, to go to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The room was very clean and the people always helpful. I would definitely go back to the Ramada again.

Inexpensive Option Close to ACADIA

  • VINR
  • 6 Sep 2011
The free breakfast was the best thing I liked. The amenities were standard. The beds were very soft for me. The plus point was being closer to the BAR Harbor Airport. The distance from ACADIA National Park is like 16-17 miles but considering the hotel rates in Bar Harbor it was a good choice.

OK for our needs!

  • 10 Oct 2010
A friend and I stayed here in March 2010 when our daughters were performing at The Grand with their ballet company (we are from Bangor). The hotel was easy to find and the staff was very friendly. We were surprised to find our room had a refrigerator! 2 queen beds were comfortable, bathroom had plenty of space, and the room was clean. The buffet breakfast was "expanded continental," so there were waffles, cereals, yogurt, breads, pastries, etc to choose from. Our only "glitch" was that our key card didn't work too well on check-in, but it worked after a couple of swipes. We went to dinner and when we came back, the key wouldn't work at all, regardless of how many times the desk clerk reprogrammed it. The lock mechanism was broken and they had to go in the window (fortunately we left it open a crack and were on the 1st floor- don't panic, this is Ellsworth!) to open our room from the inside. We moved to a new room (staff lugged the stuff for us) and everything was fine. It was a comfortable stay and we would have been happy staying here for several nights if that's what our trip required.

They try hard here but the facility shows its age. The hot tub wasn't working when I stayed which negated the reason I'd chosen the Colonial. But, nice people.

A Second choice hotel near Bar harbor

  • kcp
  • 4 Jul 2011
Hotel is 30 mins from Acadia, the room is average but clean with no smells. The price may be on the higher side for the location. There are fast food chains near by. The breakfast at hotel is sub-par. Overall, would consider this only if I don;t get a good deal in Bar harbor area.

Fall trip to Maine

  • love nature
  • 21 Oct 2011
This was a cottage, the building had settled and it leaned to one side a little. I felt like I was dizzy. End of the season so only one other cottage was being used. No amenities, like hair dryer, shampoo, etc.. Location was good, but I would stay somewhere else knowing that there are vacancies everywhere this time of year and would not have had to reserve ahead if time., Man running it, owner I assume, was very nice, and he had a nice breakfast of muffins, toast and coffee set up.

Rest and relaxation in Maine

  • thedeac
  • 17 Aug 2011
We cleared the Canadian/US border late in the evening and called the hotelier to advise our late arrival (11pm). He graciously taped our key and room # on the door of the office so we need not disturb him on our late arrival. Key and directions to the room were right there on the door. Room was prepared for our arrival and in the morning had a great conversation and advice from the owner. The office/breakfast room/gift shop were, in our opinion, extremely well devised and the gifts were of a very intelligent nature (cool, out of the ordinary puzzles, pottery, cards, etc). Nice place to stay that one might not choose but for the trip advisor reviews about the host. He was grand and the hotel very nice.
