Laborday weekend. It was a pricey weekend to be traveling....and this place isn't normally worth the $170/night that we paid, but all things considered it was a good value for location, cleanliness and price relative to other hotels. Free Wifi was excellent. Friendly, helpful desk staff.

We chose La Quinta Inn & Suites because it was less expensive than the other hotels in the heart of downtown but was still relatively close. If you have a car, this is a good choice. Parking is pretty easy to find downtown and the hotel is only a short 5-10 minute drive to get there, or many of the surrounding areas.
Staff was helpful and courteous. They were on top of refilling the breakfast items.
The neighborhood is a bit shady, but we never worried for our safety.
The room was pretty average. It did have a fridge and microwave, which was nice. It also had a very comfortable bed! In my experience, that can be hard to come by.
Overall, good choice!

Hotel in dire need of upgrades

The hotel is pretty well positioned in downtown Portland and staff members are for the most part pleasant and eager to help. However, the hotel is in need of major upgrades - mismatched furniture, very loud air conditioning units, circa 1970-style bathroom sinks are not very appealing.

The hotel location was in the center of Old Portland. It was great. I walked everywhere I wanted to go: the wharf, museums, shops, dining and even to Bug Light in South Portland. Even though the weather was cold and wet, the hotel provided an umbrella for my outings and a cozy, comfortable bed when I got back from my adventures.

On business alone - felt very comfortable in room and having dinner in the lounge. Staff attentive, particularly the valets and front desk. Had time to use fitness room and sauna - clean and well equipped. Would stay again. Only wish the restaurant served until 10pm.

We were given a handicapped room although we never requested one. It was spacious, but simple amenities such as a bathrobe hook in the bathroom were absent and the closet rod was only about three feet off the floor. The staff was great, the bar was convenient and there were abundant restaurants within easy walking distance. The carpeting in the hallways was badly stained and my white socks were dulled by a bedroom carpet that could have been cleaner. However, I would not hesitate to stay there again.
I would like to have had the option of an a la carte breakfast menu, but it was a price fixed buffet only. Our friendly bartender gave us great tips on local eateries as well as the history behind some of the more colorful ones.

This is one of the most comfortable rooms and beds I have experienced, and at an excellent cost. I can't say enough good things about this place. It is in the heart of a wonderful section of Old Portland.

My husband and I stayed at the Residence Inn Christmas Eve, the staff were very pleasant, the room was spotless . Our daugter brought chinese food to us, we had a lovely dinner with her in our suite. We would definately return to this hotel. We were able to walk into Old Port easily. Didn't feel we should have to pay extra for parking in a garage right next to hotel.

Beautiful hotel, clean, especially friendly staff.
We stayed here for a girls shopping weekend.
Its about 1/2 mile from Old Port shopping. You do have to pay to park 12$ night at the garage :(
The rooms are excellent, full kitchens,plates cups,dishwashers,full size fridge. Very quiet,comfortable beds.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it was a full hour after the 3 pm check in before our room was ready and we had to sit in the lobby with all our bags. (they could have offered free parking or something for the inconvenience)

* The room was perfectly clean and comfortable
* I had the king room, which was great for 2 people and our dog...the fact that they allow small pets was a huge plus
* Front desk staff were knowledgeable and friendly
* Parking was close and convenient
* The hotel was easy to get to
I just needed a place for the night that was not too expensive. For less than $100, including everything, this place was perfect . The bed was comfortable and I really had no complaints.
The steps are steep inside, and the halls are narrow, so I might not recommend anything off the 1st floor if either of these things would be an issue.
Otherwise. Go for it.

The Inn was about a 10-15 minute walk from Downtown and all restaurants and bars. Room was clean and cozy with a cable TV. 5 minute cab ride from airport. Overall, it was a good stay and I would recommend it to anyone that is staying a night or two in Portland.

Walking distance the OP was good. The restaurant lied and said the wait time was shorter then it was. It went from 20 minutes to 1hour and a 1/2.

My husband and I stayed at the Embassy Suites while traveling to a wedding in Portland. The hotel is very close to the airport and just a quick cab ride away from downtown Portland. The staff was very friendly. We arrived too late for the "manager's reception", but enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning.

I was only there for 1 night and had a very early morning flight. The room I stayed in was large, comfortable, and clean. I wished I could have spent more time there, actually. As it turned out, I only spent about 7 hours there! For this reason, the cost was a bit high, yet I realize that was due to my schedule.

The hotel was clean, affordable and in a good location. Easy access to I-95 and minutes from Portland. Pool was being renovated, so no comment there. It was a place to hang out and lay our heads. Our vacation was spent out and about. So again, it served its purpose for us to crash at night. Great value and I'll use it again the next time.

On vacation, we flew into Portland Jetport late at night. Travelodge was pretty close to the airport and we stayed 2 nights. Was Labor Day weekend so they were pretty full. We drove up to visit New Hampshire and Vermont. We concluded our trip with another 3 night stay at the same Travelodge. Second time there we enjoyed it more.

We were pleasently surprised to have a fridge in our room. They didn't come in and clean the second day we were there, but we just grabbed more towels and were fine. I would stay there again!

Nice change from where we usually stay. Comfortable, quiet and clean. From now on this is our hotel of choice. We will be back with our family for sure.

The hotel was very clean and the beds were very comfortable.
We did not expect the hotel to be located in a very busy section of Portland. The picture of the hotel let us to believe this was in a country setting. It was nice over all though. We would stay there again.

The Fleetwood House, is a gracious two story home built in 1892, as a Parsonage, and is located in the Rosemont area of the City. The present owner has not only restored the house, but also established a collection of wonderful antiques, and art works through out the house.After a busy day this cozy retreat provides a place where guests can relax. Whether its in the livingroom next to the fireplace, or on the wrap around porch for those hot summer nights. Breakfast is served in the dining room, and has many choices and always to your taste.We are conviently located in this wonderful historic city that holds many cultural attrations, that one hopes to fine in larger cities. Check-in is at 4 00 PM. Guests planning to arrive before or after this time must contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive special check-in instructions. As a bed and breakfast property, the Front Desk hours will vary guests should contact the property to find out more information. The Motel 6 was a fairly good value with all the basic needs. However, being a non-smoker, I found the hallways reeked of cigarette smoke most of the time. The room was relatively odor free until the bathroom fan was turned on and then there was a slight odor of cigarette smoke. There were no smoking signs in the office area and elevator, but there was a strong odor of cigarette smoke whenever I passed through them. If you are looking for a non-smoking environment like I do, skip this Motel 6.
