Not suitable for human occupancy
Completely and extremely unacceptable, I HAD TO, [...] after a 90 minute conversation moved the entire group to a more expensive hotel. Below is a testimonial from one traveler with a 3 month old baby girl...please take this hotel off your list. As soon as we entered the hotel lobby, we could smell urine. The doors to the outside were open and there were fans blowing in the entrance, but the urine odor was still strong. Then, when we went to check in, the man at the front desk told me that we had lost our room because we hadn't shown up the day before (we got there around 6:30am). He told me he had had a room booked for us, but since we hadn't shown up, he had rented it to someone else. I told him the room had been paid for in advance because we knew we wouldn't show up until the morning and that meant he was supposed to hold the room for us. He told me he couldn't do anything about it because we hadn't shown up the night before. That's when I took out our paperwork and showed him that the room had been paid for and so he wasn't supposed to give it to anyone else. He said he could get us another room. I asked if he still had the other rooms we'd paid in advance for and he said he did. He gave us a room key and the room was on the second floor. There were no elevators and I had a stroller, so we had to carry all our bags and the stroller up a flight of stairs. [...] Then, we saw there was trash everywhere. There were beer bottle caps, fast food paper, etc. all along the hallways. When we got to the room, we opened the door and the room looked like a dump. The beds all sagged in the middle, like the owners had picked discarded mattresses from the side of the road and put them in the room covering them with blankets. The place was extremely seedy. No one felt safe leaving their belongings in the room, so when we left to check into the forum, we took the most important stuff with us.

Bad Experience
The hotel was fairly clean, the only problem they we had are the bedbugs. However the staff was very happy to give us a refund, and offered to upgrade outlr room.

Not a good place
I was severely disappointed. The room smelled bad. The jacuzzi was out of order. The posted prices were $20 less than what I paid on orbitz. There was a homeless person sleeping in the hallway. They turned off the air conditioner when we were gone during the day. They left no extra roll of toilet paper. In my opinion it should even have one star. I was supposed to have a king size bed, it was a queen and had a double bed mattress pad on it. Carpet felt dirty when you walked across it.

poor/bad/dirty beds/clog drain/leaks
Would not recommend to anyone. Bolt lock would not work on door. When I requested the maneger to fix it he said I didn't need it. Sink was clogged and drained very slowly. Toilet leaked and kept running all night. Mattress and sheets was stained. Floor was not level. Rug was dirty. People in adjacent rooms were noisy and fighting with each other. Did not feel safe. I would have left but I had already prepaid the room 3 months ago. Cheap tickets rated this hotel descent. It was anything but descent. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my X-mother-in-law. Outside lighting was good. Adjacent restaurants were pleasant and had good food. If you see this hotel RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!! I found a bed and breakfast hotel next door to my sons college. The bed and breakfast would have been cheaper because they provide a complete breakfast for free. The Bed and breakfast hotel was beautiful and comfortable. The bed and breakfast would have been more expensive but after considering the location/gas/food it would have been cheaper in the long run.

are you kidding????????????
I didnt even check in...you booked me in a shady DETROIT hotel...bad group of people hanging out side..lot filled with all beat down wreck of cars. I wouldnt let my worse enemy stay here. When I called to caancel..which i could not and got no help fromn orbitz on refund because owner wont do it. Sometimes cheapest price dosn't mean t best deal..and definrtly when you are talkin about a city with a high crime rate. I will NEVER use orbitz agian.

Thanks for the rude wake up call!
1) Lack of towels meant that we had to purchase our own at CVS. When we asked the main desk tenant, he had no idea. Wow, you'd think that you'd be familiar with the area surrounding you. 2) About 5 hours before checkout time, I requested literally over 4 times if we could extend our stay for only 3 extra hours so that my friend could get some more rest before hitting the road. I got confirmation. So, instead of getting a restful extra 3 hours of sleep, we got a rude wake up bang on the door by the front desk who told us to get out. When we tried to explain the situation, who I was talking to, etc. the guy called the police on us. He said that he didn't have my debit information and that was why. Wow. So, next time I feel the need to destroy property... you can't catch me. What a horrible lie and insult to my intelligence. Yes, Detroit must have been that dead to call the poor cops on one small girl, and two dudes who were brushing their teeth and cleaning up the room as we were talking. We told the cops the story, and they looked just as annoyed as we were regardiing the situation. Waste of everyone's time and tax dollars. Thanks Stay Inn for your great wake up call, and horrible service. Next time at least give us a bed that wasn't broken, towels, and someone who actually understands the concept of the hospitality business. Coming from NYC and seeing the best and worst of civilization, this had to be an example of the latter.
