Fancy in the heart of Kalamazoo

The hotel is very nice although a little too expensive for Kalamazoo.
Room itself was comfortable and there is a convenient parking garage right across the street. We chose this hotel because it is close to Bell's Eccentric Cafe http://www.bellsbeer.com. They have great food, beer and live music. Highly recommended. It is also close to Kalamazoo College - I graduated from there so we were able to easily walk over there to visit

My only issue concerning this hotel was the daily charge for valet. I didn't have a issue with the charge but I should have been informed of this charge at the beginning of the stay and not at checkout.

The check-in was difficult in that the credit card number of yours did not work. Their system kept getting a message of denied.
Also, the room was a little cramped in the bathroom and vanity area.

We asked for a quiet room and we got one! The heating unit was quiet and street noise was low. There was a volleyball tournament in town and many players stayed at the hotel too. Breakfast was a bit crowded but the staff kept the tables cleaned and the food restocked. They never ran out of hot coffee. We were impressed!

Decent place for the money

I was there for a Western Michigan Homecoming. The motel is in a poor neighborhood, but I was pleasantly surprised by the room size and cleanliness of the room. The room also came with a refridgerator and microwave. Everything worked adequately and I had no problems with the tenants who were staying there, although they were loud and made me feel uncomfortable. Bed was too soft.

I only needed a quick cheap room because my hot water heater went out other wise this hotel would not have been my choice.The sheets were cheap and old no tub just shower and would not get in without filpflops but I wore socks.This is a hotel for people who don't care where they stay.

Good location for the price downtown.
Clean and relatively quiet.
Parking could have been an issue, we walked to blues festival 3 blocks away in order not to struggle for lack of parking later.
Front desk very helpful. Would stay again.

The room was clean and well kept. The service staff was friendly and helpful. We have stayed twice, and I would not hesitate to stay again.
In both rooms, however, the temperature was difficult to control. The heater (necessary both times) was either off or on - no thermostat function, really. The room was too warm with the heat on and too cold with it off.

It's a nice, modern building, very comfortable, with a nice staff. The location was rather plain and industrial, and wasn't all that close to restaurants, etc. But it was easy to get directions from the staff. The wireless internet worked well. It would have been nice to have a restaurant on the premises when we arrived exhausted at dinnertime. We didn't get a chance to use the pool, fitness room, or to have breakfast, so I can't comment on them.

The Clarion Hotel was very clean and comfortable. There was a little remodeling going on in the lobby but nothing disruptive. The room wasn't huge but it was very clean and comfortable and it was tastefully decorated. There are only a couple of average restaurants close by but the hotel was convient to our activities while at Kalamazoo. Nice stay.

Very very nice hotel. However, their pool was "under construction". So I had to go across the parking lot if I wanted to swim. But other than that, it was nice. And also, my floor was non smoking, but it smelled like a stale ash tray. But the room didn't.

swimming , room was great- breakfast was not so good, not very well done. everything else was so nice we will stay thire again, but thire sign for the hotel can't be seen comeing from one way. it needs to be moved out-closer to the road. we drove to the air port and on the way back we could see the sign way. with four kids this room was the very best we have ever stay at.

I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom location. It couldn't have been more perfect. Very clean, very restful. My only complaint was that there was a slight valley in my bed. They need to flip the mattresses.

This was a wind down night. We just came in from Italy and decided that we would just relax. When we arrived we were so glad to see such nice accommodations. It was clean and refreshing. The location was prefect so that we can get to the airport easily. Thank you Hampton Inn.

We used the hotel as our home while we visited our son and his wife over Thanksgiving. The suite was very comfortable, and clean. The hotel overlooks McDonalds, so wasn't very scenic, but met all our needs. The staff was very friendly and made the stay very pleasant. The couch was a sofa bed, and as such was not real comfortable, but adequate. The kitchenette was well supplied with all the dishes and appliances you could want, except for the lack of an oven. I can't think of anything that was lacking, except for extra blankets, that could have been available if we had needed them. The normal in season rates that were posted on the door would have made us rethink staying there, but the price in November through[...]was quite affordable. We would definately stay there again if the need arises.

I was there alone, in town for one night, for a friends funeral (February 2011). After looking online for a place that was inexpensive, yet not "pay by the hour," this is what I came across. I am a 25 yr old woman that has always loved to stay in hotels, and this experience did not change that. I am very picky when it comes to where I sleep and can stay for more than five minutes (my family & friends can confirm lol), so believe me when I say if it was terrible, I wouldn't hesitate to say! It wasn't 5 star, as should be expected due to it's rates, but the room was clean, everything was working properly, late checkout is free and only a phone call away, and the guy & girl at the front desk were pleasant. I thought about staying another night just because. My only problems were that when I walked out of my room door I was outside, guest have to go outside and to the front desk to get iron and ironing board, my neighbors were arguing loudly at 3am, and I left my toothbrush and paste by accident, and the front desk had one, but not the other available. So all in all, a decent value, but don't expect the Caesars Palace or you'll be disappointed! ;-) P.S. I would stay again if I had to be in the area for a brief time.

Spent less for two nights than one night at the "official" class reunion hotel. Received clean towels for the second day, but bed was not made, nor coffee maker supplies added. Coffee maker did not work properly, anyway. It was a clean, cheap place to stay. Not on a main street--hard to find.

I was hesitant to stay at this motel, but frugality ruled and I did. The room was clean. The sheets were stained but clean, they were just old. For a motel the stay was just that, someplace to sleep. We went out for breakfast so I can't say anything about the food. The one problem I encountered was some very noisy neighbors, load voices and slamming doors until after 3am. But that’s I think an issue you will run into in an inexpensive motel in a college town.

We went to sounding flea markets, casino and dinner. Our stay in the hotel would have been more enjoyable if the maid service was done after the first night we spent there. Most trips I've been on, the rooms are always cleaned, with the beds made.

Great friendly staff, was a great location, close to everything. Staff was helpful even when half the town was staying there due to a power outage. Rooms were clean and well furnished as well as having a good choice of amenities. Will definitely stay again when I visit Kalamazoo.

Nice hotel, but a little difficult to find a place for dinner. We were towing a boat/trailer, and they were flexible about where we could park. The pool was nice, and had a fenced in outside area, too.

Nice that it was right next to the highway. Rooms were new and in good condition. Wish they had a whirlpool tub and pool. Staff was very friendly. No breakfast, only coffee and fresh fruit.

Value Place is an extended-stay hotel. Our rates are priced for a minimum one week stay, and are not adjusted to a daily rate if the stay is less than one week. When your stay goes into the next week, another weekly rate is charged. However, even though many people decide to stay with us for months, many guests staying less than one week find us less expensive than traditional hotels. Room fees and a 100.00 USD refundable deposit are due at time of arrival. The 100.00 USD deposit is charged upon move in even if the room is placed on a credit card hold. Deposit is refunded at move out pending no damages or owed charges. Front desk hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9AM-6PM, Saturday 10AM-2PM and closed Sunday. After hours move-in must call extension 500 and the security guard will be paged to assist guests. Enjoy your stay in a clean, safe, and economical environment.

Very reasonable for the price if you are staying the whole week and just needs a place to sleep .Be careful booking online- reserved with one sleeper sofa and a queen bed but surprised to find only one bed .My son and I had to sleep on the floor for the first night and bought an air mattress the next day.The place was fully booked i was told.Very spartan amenities and make sure you bring your own toiletries. If you just want a place to sleep then this maybe for you.For a more relaxing family vacation, i definitely would recommend some other hotel.

We only stayed two days the Value Inn was not worth it! Two very cheap towels were in the bathroom (3 of us in the room)- no hair dryer, no ironing board. We were there for a tennis tournament so not in the room all day thus we missed the chance to turn in the dirty towels so we had to go to Kohls and purchase some. No daily cleaning of the room which is fine but wish they had a way you could acquire new towels. No utensils or plates so difficult to make use of the kitchen in the room. ELevator and hallways had a foul odor.

The hotel had clean, spacious suites with good hotel service. Pool was clean, moderate size. Hot tub was shallow but perfect temp. Good breakfast including hot items. Didn't find any major attractions right by hotel but short drive to Western Michigan University and shopping. Went to a restaurant called Zeb's about 5 mi. away. Great food and service.

The hotel itself is nice. The beds are a little more firm than I would like, but nevertheless doesn't take away from the overall atmosphere of the hotel. It is clean, friendly staff and a nice breakfast. Very affordable!

This 1 bedroom studio is like an apartment(fully stocked dishes,dishwasher,stove/oven,refrig/freezer and dining table with 4 chairs. It was very clean and roomy. It was nice to have two T.V.'s in different rooms. This is one of the nicest set ups I have had an hotel room.

When checking in, the guy at the desk was not so nice, but I only dealt with him for about 20 seconds, so it didn't matter much. Everyone else was quite nice.
I spent a lot of time comparing prices, and this place, including a kitchen, was still cheaper than most nearby hotels without one. I would go out of my way to find a TownPlace again. The decor also reminded me of a Hyatt Place we'd stayed in in Orlando - very fun and boutique hotel style.
