When I arrived, my assigned room was not cleaned. I had to call down and inform the desk.
The desk changed my room and indicated some sort of amends for the mistate. I received nothing during my stay.
The only saving grace for this hotel is its location.

Due to street closures, I was lost in Lansing at 10 pm. The desk clerk went above and beyond to 'walk me in' to the Hotel. She was efficient, polite, and sympathetic. The hotel was clean and quiet. What could have become a nightmare, turned into a safe evening. I would definitely stay again.

Stayed for one night and was very clean with pleasant staff. Continental breakfast had scrambled eggs, corned beef, make your own waffles, yogurt, cereal, juice, muffins, toast, donuts, and coffee.

The room was clean, pool and fitness room were clean and all was in working order. Breakfast was awesome. I liked that shortly after checking into our room, I received a call from the front desk to check to see that all was in order.
Shortcomings: no fridge nor microwave in room. You can make do with the ice from the machine near the lobby, but there was no microwave available even in the breakfast room.

A Nice Surprise

Mine was a simple overnight. I needed a place to stay after seeing an evening performance at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts on the campus of Michigan State University.
The room was large for a single and I enjoyed having my own microwave, stove, sink and kitchen. Another nice surprise was the "Cupboard," a room accessible by one's room key containing all kinds of foods and provisions (I picked up some soup and an orange juice) and it works on the honor system -- just pick your items and check off their amounts on a slip that gets automatically billed to your room.
The staff was very friendly. I interacted with the afternoon, overnight and morning staff and they were uniformly cheerful and helpful.
One oddity (and not even a complaint) is that Internet access is not wireless. You must request an ethernet cable from the front desk. There are only about 16" long and not very many ones are available that do not have a broken connector on one end or both. But one was available and the network connection worked flawlessly (no signup sheet required).
Dining (other than in-room) is not provided directly; however, guests are provided with a ticket into the University Club next door for breakfast. The hotel clerk told me it was $4.95 although I did not take advantage of it so I cannot comment further.
East Lansing is a long trip for me so I don't know if or when I'll be back but if I return I will put Candlewood Suites at the top of my list.

Nice clean hotel with very comfortable beds. A pool area for kids. We were given a couple tickets for the bar and the breakfast was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was traveling on business and this hotel was just what I was looking for. No restaurant, but there were several restaurants within walking distance.

my experience was unpleasent to say the least. upon arrival i was told o could have a key, but that my room was not ready and i had arrived after check-in. once i was able to get into a room it is not what i expected, very small rooms very crowded for four people, the color on the tv was way off, there was no alarm clock in the room as stsed in the ammenities, the coffee pot that was supposed to be the room was in fact in the lobby. the shower did not work very well at all. good luck if you choose this place.

This is definitely not the Super 8 I will be staying at the next time I'm in Lansing. The location is good since its right off the freeway and has tons of restaurants with in a walking distance.
The downside is definitely the cleanliness. I'd give it a 2/5.
The lobby is small with dim lighting and a few tables which also serves as the breakfast area in the am.
The rooms are average sized with a bed with a mini desk and chairs. The rooms DO lack cleanliness. I walked 20 ft on the carpet barefoot and the soles of my feet turned black. That is definitely not a good sign. The bathroom has dim lights and the tub just has a soap scum look and feel unwashed.
I would not recommend this place.

All right for a very short stay

The hotel's location is excellent, as it's 1/2 mile from a main interstate and accessible to Michigan State, downtown Lansing, and anything in the Capital City area.
However, the room had several problems, so had our stay been more than one night, I would have complained. First, there was a very strong mold smell in the bathroom. My sister and I are both very sensitive to mold, so this was a bad situation for us. Second, the room had obviously been a smoking room before it became "Non-Smoking." The smell of cigarette smoke doesn't come out of carpets and furniture just by changing the sheets and vacuuming. Third, the wi-fi connection was terrible. It took ages to load, and I lost the connection after about five minutes.
Overall, paying $75 for the room didn't constitute a good bargain for me.

I'd read other reviews that said it was a good place to sleep for the night, and that's it. That is 100% right. The room wasn't terrible, but it lacked things like an alarm clock and a coffeemaker. The front desk staff looked very young, and they would probably benefit from some training in being professional. If you're a picky person, I would steer clear of this motel. It was right off the interstate and easy to get to, which is why I gave the location a 3.

We stayed in Lansing for the Michigan State Homecoming. My daughter is in the marching band and we stayed friday and saturday nights so we could see the parade and attend the game (Go Green!). The hotel was very clean, breakfast food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly and courteous and helpful! Nice to see smiling faces at the desk after a long, busy, tiring day. Prior to this we stayed at the Hampton Inn in East Lansing, but couldn't get a room there, so this was second best. A little further drive, but was worth it.

Quiet, clean, courteous staff, went out of their way to accomodate our "mini" 5 generation family reunion in their "breakfast" area. Was disappointed in handicapped bathroom. (We had one with walk-in shower at another Marriott in Lansing) Bed very comfortable. Would stay there again. Easy to get to in spite of construction.

Perfect for Our Family Visit

The hotel and location was perfect for meeting our family and friends. We live out of state, and so when we fly home we wanted a place that was clean, comfortable, and close to the family. SpringHill was that and more. From the moment we arrived the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was perfect with the kingsize bed, and sitting room. Breakfast was perfect for a quick meal before starting our day. I would recommend this place, and I don't often recommend hotels.

We checked in in the afternoon and then went out to a local dinning spot which was very good. When we returned there were people having fun in the swimming pool and others were still checking in. The breakfast that was given was very filling. All and all I would say it was a good stay.

The room was clean, the front desk helpful, and the amenities were average.
What was obvious is that the remodeling that they claim to have done is stalled. I was at the hotel a year ago and it was in the exact same state as it was with this visit - the walls in the hallways were poorly painted, things looked a bit shoddy, and overall unpolished. The beds did not have a bed skirt or something like it and the blankets did not reach the floor so that looked odd.
The staff was friendly and the food served for our conference was good. I just would like to see the remodeling actually completed.

Desk clerk was not friendly. Room was clean.. Room never got hot .. Had heater on all day and night at the highest.. Still had to have covers .. Also had to walk a long ways to room. Told her I was handicap " said u can use the front elevator " o well it was just as far as the other one. I had order referigator on line with the orbit person hotel said they did not tell them lol I was on phone at the time when they called. I did get frig. The guy that brought the ref/micro combo was very nice.. I also see where they charged my card 10.95?? We went to another hotel on Saturday.

Nice experience for traveling with two German Shepards. The room was large, comfortable and very clean. The staff was superb.

Did in a pinch

We stayed at this hotel because of a lack of rooms in the area. It took us four hours to get the towels we asked for and the free wireless internet was EXTREMELY slow. Even though it looked run down, it was clean and the price was right fot that point in time.

Heard that saying "you get what you paid for"? Well, that saying fell short this time around. I paid for a clean room and a hot shower, but there was no hot water when I went to take a shower the next morning, and the carpeting in the hallway area near my room smelled like cat urine. Because I needed a 1 night stay, I just dealt with it. However, I will not stay there again. The room was not as clean as I expected it would be. Positive note, the staff was respectful and the lobby was clean.

Nice Place to Stay

We got the room because it was close to a family members house. Every thing was nice, it was quite when we where there, not too many people around. Did not hear people walking in hallway(I don't like hearing people in the hallway.), so that was nice. The staff was friendly. I liked the meal vouchers they gave us for breakfast it made the bill very small.

hotel is under reconstruction...so a bit unsettling. But our room was great, clean and comfortable.
Our key card did not work when we got all the way to our room (which was quite a walk from the elevator) so we had to find a phone and call for someone from the front dest to come and bring us new key cards.
