Great hotel but a little drab.

My boyfriend and I went here for a night just to get away from the campus and noise. There were so many ups and a few downs to the hotel. The outside was a slightly off-putting and was nothing extraordinary since it was mostly concrte. When we got inside it was a little suprising as the curtains were nice and chandeliers. When we checked in the they were very busy but the clerk was organized and speedy. They accidentally put us in a room with 2 queens and conjoined with another room but as soon as I went back to the lobby she switched us into a king room within a few minutes. The hallways were dark and long and had to go through many doors to get to our room. When reaching the room it was extremely spacious and. The addition of a painted wall along with beautiful furniture made it really inviting. The bathroom was a little small but did the job. They provided lots of great smelling soaps and towels. During the evening we had a maitenance man come to our door asking if we were "smoking anything" since the hallway smelled strange which I thought was rude but I supposed necessary. We unfortunately missed the breakfast but we had the Folgers coffee in the room. If you're looking for a hotel with a great amount of space and to get away for a weekend I would definitely suggest this hotel. If you're looking for something more than that and fresh, look some place else.

The rooms are clean and in good condition. There is a swimming pool and a fitness room. Breakfast was included in my room rate and it was a warm buffet style that was good and added value to the stay.

Great Deal For The Money

This was one of the nicest Ramada's that I have stayed at. The room was massive, well decorated and spotless. The hotel provided a nice continental breakfast consisting of cereal, bagels, muffins, eggs, potatoes, bacon and waffles. The hotel pool was a bit warm (actually not much cooler than the hottub) but overall enjoyable. Great stay.

Not Done Yet

The room was clean, the front desk helpful, and the amenities were average. What was obvious is that the remodeling that they claim to have done is stalled. I was at the hotel a year ago and it was in the exact same state as it was with this visit - the walls in the hallways were poorly painted, things looked a bit shoddy, and overall unpolished. The beds did not have a bed skirt or something like it and the blankets did not reach the floor so that looked odd. The staff was friendly and the food served for our conference was good. I just would like to see the remodeling actually completed.

Great for the price

Desk clerk was not friendly. Room was clean.. Room never got hot .. Had heater on all day and night at the highest.. Still had to have covers .. Also had to walk a long ways to room. Told her I was handicap " said u can use the front elevator " o well it was just as far as the other one. I had order referigator on line with the orbit person hotel said they did not tell them lol I was on phone at the time when they called. I did get frig. The guy that brought the ref/micro combo was very nice.. I also see where they charged my card 10.95?? We went to another hotel on Saturday.

Excellent stay

It was a very good stay. Continental breakfast was good. We were there for two weddings. Restuarants are near by and also shopping areas just two miles away.

Hotel Experience

I enjoyed being able to attend two days of conferences while also having my own room at the hotel. This made it possible to have a great breakfast, no travel time, and I didn't need to carry extra luggage around!

Nice, spacious hotel, but weird service.

My stay at Ramada was very interesting, to say the least. On the one hand, I loved the rooms - they were nice and spacious and rather comforting. I got a room with two queen beds for a really fantastic rate. Plus, the pool was big and the free hot continental breakfast was a great added perk. However, on the other hand, the staff was rather rude and very impatient. The service at the front desk was one of the worst I have ever had - I was either incredibly rushed or I was forced to stand in a line with many other customers as the staff all left for no explained reason. They were not welcoming at all. When we passed them every morning on our way to breakfast, we never got a "Good morning" or a smile. They were constantly staring at the computer and simply ignoring the guests. But let me get this straight - I'm not complaining about lack of a "Good morning." It's just that it says a lot about a hotel when the front staff doesn't greet you, if you know what I mean. It makes you feel kind of invisible or like an intruder. Besides, a hotel should provide hospitality to their guests and I've always believed that the service is one of the greatest factors that sets one hotel apart from another. Every hotel can provide a bed and a bathroom, but the best ones have excellent service and this one simply fell short. I don't know if the spacious rooms can compensate for the lack of friendliness of the staff, but I guess, overall, Ramada was an average experience. It does not place too high on my list of hotels, but it isn't on the very bottom of it either.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

The hotel is located on Saginaw Highway, but it is one of those highways that isn't technically a fast highway - it's one with red lights and stop signs. So during rush hour, including late afternoon/early evenings on weekdays, it is a MESS. Try driving on the 94 freeway to get to your destination - it will save you a lot of time and trouble. And the best thing would be to bring a GPS because you can always use alternate routes. Late mornings and nights on weekdays and weekends don't have a lot of traffic so driving down Saginaw Highway is almost the same as the freeway, plus you can stop by some of the restaurants along the way.
