What is a 1.5 star Hotel?

Easy access, so the location is good and convenient for the highway traveler. We got there late and the clerk was cordial and efficient. The lobby, as others have noted, really is the nicest part of the hotel. We entered from the backside where the door area smelled of urine. The room was basic but the carpet was worn and torn in one area. The door did not close easily. The bathroom fan was crusted in dust and dirt. At least the beds were comfortable. The outside door didn't work the next morning and we had to walk around to the front for breakfast, which was unexceptional. Next time I'll spend a few more dollars for something a bit nicer. This placed generally creeped us out.

Run Down

The main photo is not an accurate depiction of this motel. The main entrance looks like it has been re-done fairly recently, but when you drive around the side to go to your room, the rest of the building is quite run down. The door we had to use to get inside the building to go to our room looked like we were walking into the back entrance of some old, ratty motel. The hallways weren't much better, but once we got into our room, it was not that bad. The room was fairly clean. Bottom Line: I won't be staying here again, but it could have been worse.

Nice stay, nothing special

Nothing special here - but it's an Econolodge. Very basic room with little fluff. Stayed overnight after a Mizzou football game and it was enough for a decent overnight stay. Had I been here with my wife, she would have complained of the dust on the curtains, or the fact that the bathroom sink was not big enough... or that the TV reception was poor because the cable was being split multiple times... but for a quick low-cost stay, it was fine.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Lots of food on Bus I-70 right there for quick bites to eat, within a short walk or drive.

Wouldn't Stay here

My family and I were staying at this hotel for a wedding. We had the worst experience and after the first night ended up going to a different hotel. We rented the suite and an additional room. The first room, the carpets were soaking with water and smelled of mold. The "suite" was nothing like what was expected and it across the hall from the where the housekeepers were living; they were up at 5:00 am banging around. After complaining to the front desk with no help, we asked for the managers, who we found out was not working. Front desk gave us the "managers" number which was the number to the front desk. Great customer service MIGHT have saved this but with the stench, dorm like decor (mismatched, dirty couches in the lobby and halls) and bad customer service I would suggest staying anywhere else. For less money we had a great experience at a hotel chain just down the street.

Econo Lodge Columbia, MO

This is the most aweful hotel I have ever stayed at. They took advantage of unsuspecting Parents coming for Parents Weekend at U. Of MO. I would have never booked this if I would have known. I was desperate & all other hotels in the area were already booked. It was parents weekend at Mizzou & also the first home football game of the season. Smelled like Cat urine - no security lock on the main door to the hotel parking lot - sketching neighborhood. DIRTY - AWEFUL!!! Do not ever stay here. An unsuspecting parent that got taken advantage of. I payed $146.00 for one night in a FLEE BAG!

Why does Orbitz have this hotel?

Orbitz and a few others are the companies I use to plan my trip. Usually they are good about advertising the hotels and where to stay for a good price. This time Orbitz WHY? If I could choose how much the stay was worth I would say about $10.00. There is not one thing positive about this place. Me and my girlfriend stayed here because we did the MS 150 bike ride and this was one of the last hotels to stay in. Holiday inn select was $28.00 more dollars and I should have paid the little bit of extra money to sleep in a clean place. We had a few bites from fleas. The toilet seat was broken. The smell of the hotel room smelt like death and dirt. The front counter man said 2 words to me," Name? and here is your room card." We also selected this place for the Continental Breakfast, thinking we could eat a little toast and maybe a muffin. Muffins' were moldy Toast was old to the taste. The best thing was a banana. The coffee was even cold and burnt PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE… FYI we went to Wal-Mart and purchased a set of bed sheets a blanket bug spray and Disinfectant spray ($38.54)
