OMG!
Most La Quinta's I have stayed at are fine so I took all the negative reviews with a grain of salt. As it turned out, I should have passed on this hotel. My room was damp and musty, the heating unit was really noisy and kept waking me up, someone had stolen the TV remote and coffee maker, and the toilet ran all night and was cracked and leaking on the floor. I realize nothing is ever perfect, but this was a bit too much.

Chose this hotel based on fairly good reviews, but my experience was not that good. Check in with Brian was excellent; very friendly and helpful. All others were full of excuses: Coffee maker in the room, but no coffee (Oh, that's on back order). You need a password to get free wi-fi, but they don't give it to you. When you get the password from the front desk, four+ servers come up; one doesn't access the internet (worthless) and the others make it difficult to do so. TWO TV remotes; both change channels, but neither would turn the TV off (Oh, that's the way Comcast installed it). --had desk staff visit the room to turn it off, but no instructions, so it happened again. Dogs barking from nearby rooms. Both coffee urns empty at breakfast; had to ask for (and wait for) coffee. Stained carpets and chairs. Weak breakfast bar. Old/worn room furnishings.

Needs A Glade Plug In
I got a room here because it was conveniently located to my destination. The receptionist was very friendly (almost too much so), and she had all the paperwork ready for me when I arrived. On the way to the room, I was hit with a slightly mildewy odor in the hallway. Once I opened the door to my room, the odor was 1000 times worse. I know it was the dead of summer, and sometimes that happens with AC units, but they really need to get that fixed. It was almost unbearable to sleep in there.

Kimmer the Trimmer
Good value but you get what you pay for!
We were just staying overnight on a road trip. Motel was easy to find but there were some issues: The slide key entry only worked after 5-6 times. The hotel desk was several long corridors away and there was no elevator to the 2nd floor. The ice machine didn't work on the 2nd floor which required a good trek to the 1st floor. We overlooked a McDonald's drive through lane but it was not noisy in the room. The room, however was adequate and updated and a good value @ $60. We prefer Hampton or Drury Inns but you did not offer any discount at Hampton.

La Quinta Inn - Hattiesburg Bust
Although an associate of mine had stayed there previously with no issues, I had a lot of minor issues and my associate had a major issue. The hotel had recently changed over to Comcast digital and not all of the TV's worked with just one remote - mine took two that took 3 days to resolve. I had a cricket one night and a large bug in my room the night before. The closets have light fixtures but no switches, so none of them work. The linen supply was not the same each day. My associate came back the last night and found his room had been given to someone else and his stuff put in the managers office. I found out the next day that I had been checked out the day before. Although a cost savings to me, someone else could have entered my room late since the customer service desk had me checked out. This happened after we asked them to add one more night to our stay, which they gladly did. The hotel has tried to make amends but this was just bizarre. This is a pet friendly hotel and I was impressed that noise was not an issue.

Go to Letha's BBQ on Hwy 98 for the best meal in town. It is a small family owned business with mouth watering, tender meats and great service.

Bad experience!!!
You had to have 2 room keys as neither one of them worked all of the time! I was asked to stay an extra night so I went down to the front desk and asked told them I needed to stay an extra night. He recoded the keys so I thought all was well. The next night when I came home they had removed all of my belonging from my room and some one else was in there!! The guy that was in my room told them that they could just give him another room. When the manager called me late the next day He tried to tell me that it was my fault and not his. They also had problems with their billing.

Acceptable but not 21st Century
USM had a graduation that weekend and the housekeeping staff did not get around to my room till about 6 pm two days in a row. This did improve after grads left the motel and probably acceptable on normal days. Breakfast was quite good with sausage and boiled eggs instead of just carbs. The AC had hard time keeping room as cool as I like but I was on 2sd floor and it had to deal with sun on the roof. The first floor would probably be fine. Desk staff tried to be helpful but just too few housekeepers with a full motel.
