Downtown Convenience

This was a great location for proximity to restaurants and entertainment venues. It is a little hard to get to since it is on the corner of two one-way streets so you better have your route planned before you come. Also, it cost $18.00 a day to park which is not something you plan on when you make reservations. The girl behind the desk when we arrived was curt and not helpful with directions. Other than that, it was clean and comfortable and attractive and I would recommend it.

Was in Charlotte for a convention, so I was walking or taking the very convenient shuttle to the convention center every day. It's about 4 blocks - never felt unsafe when walking. Hotel is a bit isolated if you want to be in the middle of restaurants, bars and other hotels, though. The morning breakfast buffet is terrific and very fresh. The evening complimentary happy hour is great also - but don't expect to make it a meal. Staff was very friendly; room was clean and comfortable.

I took my girlfriend to Charlotte for a Bobcats game. She had never been to a professional game and I surprised her with tickets for Christmas. Charlotte was beautiful and the people we truly a pleasure to be around. Everything the town has to offer is within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly and nice. They have several social events at the hotel, and a very reliable shuttle service. I sincerely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Charlotte area.

Overall, we had a good stay for one night. First, let's cover the cons - very limited parking when checking in (you're in a parking deck that is shared by 2 hotels), not enough towels in the room (3 bath towels for 4 people), and our shuttle driver would not drive us to the restaurant we were wanting to eat at (at first he didn't know where it was and then when dropping off other guests he said that this is where we would be getting off too).
The pros - room was clean, the front desk staff was amicable (one gentleman in particular was great), Sunday breakfast buffet was good, and the hotel is within walking distance to popular downtown areas (~ 4-5 blocks).
Overall, the stay was good for the price. Our biggest complaint was the shuttle driver not taking us to our preferred restaurant.

Hotel is a great deal! It's located south of the city close to Southend. There is a free shuttle that runs til midnight that will take you within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. We used that both nights to drop us off at restuarants. We could've walked, but it was very cold so we utilized the free shuttle option. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Free internet too!

Walking distance from downtown. The best thing is that the room had a small stove, refrigerator, and kitchen sink. Everything is new and clean. Huge windows, nice bathroom.

I made a last minute reservation and saved several hundred dollars off the listed rate. They gave me a huge room on the top floor with a gorgeous view of downtown. Amenities are the nicest I've experienced in any 5-star hotel. This is as nice as(and newer than) than any other Ritz I've ever stayed in. In-room coffee and espresso machines, tv in the bathroom mirror, well-lit desk and a healthy choice of foods on the in-room-dining menu. I'll be back

This was my second time at this hotel and it was just as good as the first. This time I had the breakfast and it was good for a complimentary breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would stay here again.

The hotel was great - location fantastic - easy to find. The only complaint was that the furniture (dresser) was old and it had a gigantic sag in the middle. It looked like the previous TV was extremely heavy and caused this. It also looked very worn. Needs to be replaced. Room was very clean and the bathroom was great! The breakfast was very good each day and staff was helpful and courteous. I would stay here again.

Great hotel by the airport

For the price I thought this hotel was great. Free cooked to order breakfast and drinks in the evening. The staff was very helpful getting us to and from the airport as well as taking us to the light rail terminal.

We arrived at 230 pm and were met by a woman who started to check us in. She looked at the computer and said "oh we don't have any of your style rooms available. " (double non smoking suite). So we waited in the lobby until the 3 pm check in time. Meanwhile an older couple checked in with no issues. Later during our stay we rode the elevator with this couple and you guessed it same exact room. I felt like I was pushed aside due to using orbits. The hotel itself is beautiful and the breakfast is good and the staff there is very welcoming. The Omaha steakhouse on site is very good, a little pricey but delicious food.

Great Hotel, Needs Maintenance Attention

The Sheraton Charlotte is an outstanding hotel. The staff is courteous and goes the extra mile to serve their guests. The room was clean, comfortable, updated, and had the expected amenities. However more attention needs to be placed on general room maintenance.
I arrived late and went directly to my room. Wanted to watch the news before retiring. The TV wasn't getting a signal. I initially thought it was a simple remote control problem & tried to correct it myself. When I couldn't, I called the front desk & they immediately sent up an engineer. I was told that the TV needed to be re-programed. He returned shortly with a computer. When that didn't work, the supervisor came up. They offered to move me to another room but it was late & I was settled. Why bother for 1 nite. They were able to replace the cable & get it programed to receive digital channels.
When I went to use the sink in the bathroom, the hot water handle came off in my hands. I was able to put it back on & turn off the water. I also noticed the left side of the TP holder was barely connected to the wall and the tank top to the toilet was not properly placed.
These were all relatively minor issues but they are details which should not be ignored in a quality establishment. Would this keep me from a return visit, no. But it would have been very annoying if I was going to be there longer than 1 night.

I had a very pleasant stay at the Hyatt. I am one that loves modern hotels and Hyatt met exceeded my expectations. The room's decor was very chic and comfortable. I really liked the fact that the TV had all the necessary cable adapters that I needed to complete my work and entertainment purposes. It's one of my favorite hotels to stay in even for an in-town stay. The continental breakfast was great. Everything was fresh and clean. The location wasn't that great, but it was very close to the airport for those flying in.

This was a handy place to crash before an early flight out of CLT. The airport is barely a mile away, which was my main criterion. That said, the rooms were a bit dated, with older TVs and faded materials, but quite functional, and there's the standard assortment of gym, business room, pool, etc. A good value, overall.

A very clean and orderly hotel. Staff was efficient. The location is handy for air travelers. Airplane noise made listening to the TV challenging, but that's why it says Wingate by Wyndham Charlotte Airport. Restaurants and grocery store nearby.
Overall a good value for the money spent.

Visited Charlotte for a family party. Got in late Friday night and the front desk staff was very nice and welcoming. The hotel was comfortable and clean. We just needed a place to stay for a couple of nights and this had everything we needed. I would stay again.

The hotel was very nice, staff outstanding. For the cost of the room they wanted to charge 9.99 for internet. That is crazy. I use to love Double tree hotels but if all of them charge for internet I will have to find a new hotel family.

This is a newer hotel with all the amenities. My bed was so comfortable that I didn't want to get up in the morning. I got into town in the evening and had a very nice dinner in the lounge. I was surprised by the quality of the food - I had a seafood dish with grits that was wonderful. The bartender, front desk staff and shuttle driver were all professional, helpful and friendly.

THis is a top notch hotel. The service, the staff, the rooms, the amenities -- there is simply nothing not to like about the Ballantyne. The area was build about 10 years ago by developers that had a personal interest in the land and with amazing insight and tremendous attention to detail have developed an area rich in culture, beauty, comfort, relaxation, business, and leisure.
The Ballantyne Resort was thoughtfully built and decorated. The Gallery Restaurant was very good, from service to selection. The social gatherings range from weekly Pool Parties, to Ice-Cream Socials, Wine and Cheese Pairings and Cooking Classes. Whether you plan a romantic weekend, a gala event, a family getaway or just a private retreat, you will find it all at Ballantyne. Golf, Tennis it's all here. Most of all - you can hear yourself think here. Visit the full service SPA for a special retreat. Next time I'm going alone. This time I went with the kids.

I really enjoyed my stay here especially since it's right downtown, but the prices of some of their services were through the roof. Nonetheless, I would stay here again in a minute!

We were in town attending the RV Show at the Convention Center and wanted a hotel that was close and had breakfast. The downtown area was a short 8 miles away and easy to get to. We had a breakfast that had a great variety of choices. We wound have spent 15 to 20 dollars more a day if we had to eat out.
The room was a one bedroom suite. Clean and not run down. One problem with the room was it was on the courtyard pool area of the building and the lights from that came into the room at night. The window cover that they had is to thin to block the light.
We were only here for 2 nights but if we need to stay longer it would be a great place to stay. They have washers and dryers, storage rooms and exercise equipment'
They need to clean the elevator doors. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Overall it was a clean, reasonably price, well equipped and a great location.

We came to town for the NASCAR race and stayed at the Staybridge afterword. It took us approx 20 minutes to get there. The room was clean and very spacious. It was more like a one room apartment than a hotel room. The included breakfast the next morning was good. It included eggs,bacon,a waffle maker (my favorite),biscuits,sausage gravy,assorted cereals,assorted fruit,bagles,muffins, oj,apple juice,cranberry juice etc. Our stay was mainly for a little sleep before heading on our 3 hr drive back home. I would most likely stay again if I am in this area again.

This hotel is just that - a hotel. Only stayed there because it was a last resort. Definitely booking in advance next year so that I do not have to stay here again. It is very old and the room smelled very bad.

i arrived late and the parking lot was very dark. it was also hard to find the hotel at night because there wasn't a lit sign. i had to ask at a nearby restaurant where the hotel was. i was literaly afraid when i arrived because the office wasn't open at night and it was sooo dark! Since it was too late to go elsewhere and i had already paid online, i drove around the lot looking for the office. a security guard saw me and let me in my room. he was very nice and i did feel much safer knowing he was there. he watched the lot as i entered my room. the room was very clean and perhaps newly remodeled. i was very satisfied with the room. the internet service was also good. i would have liked to have had some ice, but it was too late and dark to venture out to find an ice machine. in the morning, when i could see the parking lot and surrounding area, i noticed that it wasn't bad. they just need a lot more lighting in the lot and surrounding area so people can find the hotel at night and feel a little more comfortable.
