Sun Suites of Charlotte-Mathews

The one night price was good but the room was not. The room had an ants issue, rust in the bathroom, molded carpet, covers on the bed was not clean., furniture damaged, towels not clean. They say it was a suite but no pots or pan. This place is only for a one night stay. The place needs updating.

It was nice that it had a stove, fridge and microwave. The small kitchen was a added bonus to the room. It was ordinary, but if you want a cheap stay then its worth the low price. I would stay here again. The only con was the room smelled like someone's cologne but luckily I had some febreze so it fixed that but overall it was a good stay.

After such a negative experience at the Sun Suites on E. Independence Blvd. in Charlotte, NC, I will never stay at another Sun Suites again. I attempted to check in shortly before 12pm and was denied because no room was ready. After coming back after 3 to 4 hours, a room was ready,but with no towels or wash cloths which I agreed to take only because my friend and I needed to get situated for an event to take place later on that day. After returning back to the hotel aroun 8pm, I still had to call downstairs to the front desk for towels at which point I was spoken to so rudely, I hung the phone up in disbelief. In an extremely rude tone, I was told I can come get the towels myself and if I had a problem I could feel free to check out.At this point, I had to go address the front desk attendent by the name of Shaughn and get towels myself instead of them being brought to me.A short time after returning to my room, the manager on duty,Jackie, called the room to basically imply that I had caused a problem for the staff by interrupting him helping other patrons and by "threatining to have him beat up". After speaking with Jackie, she assured me that she would be present in the office the following morning to personally handle my check out, but when I went to the office at 11am exactly, the manager had not arrived to work yet as told to me by the morning staff. I have never been so offended by a customer service employee in my life; and I use the words customer service loosely. I will make sure to inform any associates I have that if they are looking for courteous service, they need not to look at Sun Suites. I will stick to the Westin. They never dissappoint.

This hotel is just that - a hotel. Only stayed there because it was a last resort. Definitely booking in advance next year so that I do not have to stay here again. It is very old and the room smelled very bad.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, the the only half descent thing i can say that the location was good for us. When we arrived it was about 1130pm the office was closed which was un heard of. I had to talk through a intercom, then the security guard came out side with a clip board to conduct business with with me, so this is a first me giving my credit card & id to security "joke". The room was unacceptable the spread & the sheets on the bed were not clean. I dont think I need to go any further.

i arrived late and the parking lot was very dark. it was also hard to find the hotel at night because there wasn't a lit sign. i had to ask at a nearby restaurant where the hotel was. i was literaly afraid when i arrived because the office wasn't open at night and it was sooo dark! Since it was too late to go elsewhere and i had already paid online, i drove around the lot looking for the office. a security guard saw me and let me in my room. he was very nice and i did feel much safer knowing he was there. he watched the lot as i entered my room. the room was very clean and perhaps newly remodeled. i was very satisfied with the room. the internet service was also good. i would have liked to have had some ice, but it was too late and dark to venture out to find an ice machine. in the morning, when i could see the parking lot and surrounding area, i noticed that it wasn't bad. they just need a lot more lighting in the lot and surrounding area so people can find the hotel at night and feel a little more comfortable.

Two top burner and refridgerator in room great idea however no pots or pans provided.Fair. On our previous trips we have stayed at hoatels that provieded light breakfasts.

Please do not ever use this hotel!!! The very first night my wife and two small children were startled by loud knocking on door, several large thugs were outside, when we attempted to call front desk we discovered phone was broke! The room smelled, was very noisy with thumping music until at least 3am every night, the beds were hard, and there was no water pressure! The last night of our stay at 4:30 am I awakened to pepper spray being sprayed thru A/C vent then two hours later police arrived when a man who actually answered the door was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint... nothing like seeing a reporter outside your hotel!!!

We were only staying for one night, and glad that was all! The staff was super friendly, but the facility was just in a bad location. Not being from the area we didn't know any better. There was security that walked the premise at night, which made us feel a bit better. The room was said to be not smoking but it was clear the last travelers didnt abide by that rule. On the upside there was a full size fridge, stove, and microwave.
