Great for large family group

  • Mike
  • 4 Aug 2010
There were 5 adults and 2 small children in our party, so a 3-bedroom, 2-bath townhouse made more sense than a standard hotel or motel. Also, they are located on the access road to the Mt. Washington Cog Railway, to which we had tickets for the next morning. In spite of what we read, having children with us was not a problem (we even reserved a crib [actually a Pak-and-Play]), nor was only staying for one night rather than two.[...]The unit was great - fully furnished, including all linens, towels, dishes, silverware, extra pillows, 2 TVs, DVD/CD/videotape players, even books to read - and all on one floor.A minor inconvenience is that you have to go to the other side of the highway (Rte. 302), about a 5-minute drive, to check in/out and to leave the trash and recyclables. Also be aware that eating options are limited; we got takeout from Fabyan's, the only restaurant within easy walking distance, but it is expensive and, we noticed on picking up the food, VERY noisy. Finally, kudos to Laurie, who arranged for the Pak-and-Play with a wonderfully friendly and accommodating attitude.

Our doggy got us to the bretton arms

  • Globetrotters with pooch
  • 30 Mar 2011
We had thought of the bretton arms as a poor man's choice wrt the big hotel on the hill, but now we are really very glad that our dog persuaded us to stay there. Charming, quiet, kind service and an delicious breakfast in the special offer price. Our only gripe is that the staff didn't tell us our dining options when we called before we arrived and so we missed the experience of dining at the bretton arms restaurant, which was closed following our first night. If the breakfast crab cakes were anything to go by it would have been the best restaurant at the resort.

Arrived and welcomed by helpful staff. Room was clean and spacious w/ 2 double beds though a bit dated. Lots to do when the weather didn't cooperate. Enjoyed full access to all Mt. Washington Resort amenities -- spa, restaurants, large common spaces, pool, shops, game room, etc. Shuttle available 24/7 to get one around. Various restaurant choices from high end to burgers.

Luxury and ??????

  • Disapointed
  • 4 Nov 2010
This was a great pick for a little get a way after our sons wedding. The hotel is beautiful and fully remodeled . We stayed three nights and enjoyed the hot tub and pool. The food was marginal think they should mix it up a little with fresh vegetables and more options.Upon leaving the bill had a $20 daily charge to use the resort. Since it is off season there was really nothing to at the resort. It was not like they provided any entertainment or free amenities. When I questioned the charge they said it was for the paper and coffee which was only free in the am and cold. Very disappointed in the extra charge. Very convenient to reach all areas of the White Mountains within 45 min.
