Not A Good Experience

The staff was friendly. The breakfast excellent. However on balance I have to rate this as my worst hotel experience in 40 years of travel. The room had two double beds. The mattresses on both were unusable. They were limp and sagged almost to the floor when they should have been firm to the touch. It seemed they were missing parts. After 12 hours of travel that day, I was too exhausted to try and swithch rooms so I slept on the floor. To my further irritation, there was a raucous party started in the room above around midnight. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

OK room, bad location, run down building

On the outside, this hotel is in shockingly bad shape. First we saw large rat traps next to our building, stone walls that are falling down, stairways that are rusting away, and landscaping that needs a lot of attention. There were no elevators to the second floor rooms so be prepared to carry your luggage. The rooms are standard Residence Inn fare and generally comfortable. The kitchen is so ill-equiped that we could not do any cooking. There is no wifi so you are limited to being attached to a ethernet cable. Our first room was directly next to an outdoor hot tub that attracted loud teenagers who did not leave until midnight. On day two we had to change rooms. The computer in the hotel lobby is so slow that it is almost worthless. Facebook and Twitter are blocked with messages saying they are pedofile sites! The printer did not work so we could not print boarding passes. Breakfasts were adequate with waffles and eggs. The coffee was so bad that we made frequent trips to Starbucks downtown. With three movie crews staying in the hotel we could not find any open tables. This hotel is really isolated from any restaunts, and from the center of town. It seems to be in an industrial area. We did not really feel like we were in Santa Fe at this hotel.

Cafe Pasqual is a Santa Fe treasure with ecclectic southwestern food and a cheerful staff. Their mole sauce is the best we ever had.
