Gold Spike Stay

The room and accomodations were very fine. The parking lot was not as well lit as I would prefer, but our vehicle was safe. The on-site restarant advertised a prime-rib dinner special, but unfortunately it fell well below my expectations. I could only cut the meat around the edges of my medium rare cut. The meat that I did manage to get out of the middle was chewy, sinewy, and really inedible. Not worth the money.

great place to stay but...

It's a decent place to stay in vegas for the price you will pay. You'll be staying outdoors most of the time right? The only problem I had was parking. I had to circle a couple of times to get that parking space. When checking out, I did ask the lady behind the counter concerning parking. She did mention a parking lot somewhere, but doesn't really help me. Worth asking when you check in though. All in all...I would recommend this hotel.

If it's not your 1st time in Vegas. Try the restaurants outside of the strip. Venture where the locals live and eat. Do your research first.

A akward get away

The staff was helpfull and nice. The room, is a different story. Small, not enough towles, poor water pressure, and the T.V.did not work at all. Bed was comfortable, just no mirror in the room, other than the bathrooms.

Great cheap place if traveling with pets

We were traveling through Vegas and stayed here with our two dogs each leg of the trip. It's in downtown Vegas, which looks seedy, but it's only 2 blocks from Fremont Street and we were assured that the parking lot is patrolled by security and very safe. Each time the room we had was clean and the beds super comfy. There is cable and a nice flatscreen on the wall of each room. I don't gamble so had no problem with the fact that the casino clientele was pretty low rent. Drink specials were good and the best part of it was we walked out the door only paying $34- INCLUDING TAX! Way better than Motel 6 and more comfy for sure.

Gold Spike again

Once again Gold Spike hits a home run for price. This little hotel down town trying so hard to to hip and up scale but only making it on price. All the basics are there; good bed, shower that works, little bottle of shampoo and lotion, only one bar of soap but it is a good sized bar. The rooms are properly clean. They are showing signs of age. lamp covers becoming a little loose. One thing to note. Some rooms have an Iphone charger/radio and this is good for the iPhone folks. To charge my Android phone I had to search long and hard for the sparse outlet. There was one near the window and one under the bed side table. Both challenging to find and hard to access. A change since the last time I was here; Sexy black jack has turned into regular black jack. Oh well. Over all this is a hotel aimed at the budget wallet but it is not scary. Spend time on Fremont street or out and about. All I do in a hotel room is sleep and shower. Then it is out to have fun.

Great Value, Clean, Friendly, Great Location to Fremont Street Action

Great price for a good location. One block to start of Fremont light show. All rooms recently redecorated...so very current; no 'old lady' prints on the walls. Staff sincerely friendly and willing to help. Nice coffee shop with killer prime rib/baked potato special for low price. Only small need is that they improve WiFi...slow response times. Understand they are about to make some tech improvements to fix this. Very nice pool area with lounge chairs and pool 'fountains'. Tower rooms seem larger, however cabana rooms right at the pool have very open, airy feel. Both are excellent value. Pet friendly. Easy parking in hotel lots.

Fremont Street Zip Line is fun. Speed right above all the action, right below the light show.
