overrated

the hotel lobby was beautiful; the hotel service was good. the room was definetly not worth it-with the HARRAHS name, i expected a much nicer room. the room was touted as luxurious, but was not even close. the view from the room was terrible. no real amenities(not even a coffee machine like most hotels in this day and age have. the pool was nice. would i stay there again? hell no. it was not worth it. but the staff was professional, helpful and friendly.

Great location on the Strip

Nice trip overall. The Las Vegas Strip was very congested and hard to get around. Would not go back during a holiday due to crowds.

Be Sure You Realize What You're Getting!

This might be a good place to take a fun-filled vacation, but if you're traveling for business or a conference, then it is a disaster. First off, almost all the restaurants are right on the casino floor, without so much as a wall between you and the machines. So it is ding-ding-ding-bloop-bloop-bloop all the time, whether you want it or not. The same sound problem occurs if you want to use the Starbucks, one of the small shops, or ask a question at the front desk. The casino's sound is omnipresent. Someone in a restaurant called "I Love This Bar and Grill" had a cardiac emergency. This is not uncommon, given the age of travelers and the number of people in one of these mega-resorts. And while people 1 table away were concerned and curious, even 2-3 tables away, everyone was going on as normal. They didn't stop blaring the music (which was deafening.) The crowd was imperfect. One guy was arrested for sleeping in the hallway at 6 am, as I was leaving to check out. A noisy cluster of about 8 guys who were swearing/cussing all the time and joking about each others flatulence and/or mothers were about six doors down. Turns out they were there for someone's 21st birthday, but even though they were six doors down, I heard them loud and clear as if they were in the same room as me. I didn't complain, because my 21st birthday was pretty wild too, so one has to give allowances. But for anyone with kids, do keep this in mind... All that being said, if you're coming to Vegas to party, then maybe this isn't bad at all. After all, why would you want quiet when you want to gamble and have some beer? But if you're traveling for work or a conference, you can just kiss your productivity, and your soundness of sleep, goodbye! To end on a positive note, the view of the strip was breathtaking, both during the day and during the night. It is worth the extra $12 per day to get the view of the strip. It really helped me tolerate all the negatives.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The Smithsonian runs a tiny museum in town related to the development and testing of nuclear bombs, which were mostly conducted in Nevada. The museum was very intelligent, and balanced. The displays were highly informative. For many of us, this was too recent to be in the history books, but before we were born, so we can't possibly remember it. Over all, worth doing for sure.

Old Hotel and Casino...rooms very clean

We went to Las Vegas to see Celine and we should have stayed at Ceasars Palace... The person who registered us did not give us any information about the Hotel or any brochures....we went to our room not knowing anything about the hotel. We had stayed at Planet Hollywood before and that was marvelous and so was Ceasars...

Good place, minor problems

The staff at the hotel were either great or rude. Regarding the later, the hostess at KGB Burgers refused to let my friends and I have drinks there (all of the other bars were either too smokey or too loud) because we did not want to order food. The restaurant was not even busy (not that it should have made a difference). In terms of the room, it was non-smoking, but people were smoking all over the floor. The smoke was coming into my room. It was especially bad in the early mornings. The spa and gym were wonderful!

Shame on you Harrah's

I am generally a very easy person to please, but my experience at Harrah's was very disappointing. When we checked in on a Saturday there were only two people at the check-in, then after I had been there for half hour they brought in another person. For some reason each check-in took a very long time. Then when we got to our room the bathroom faucet was dripping.....loud. We had a concert to go to and I did not call housekeeping. Honestly I would not go back. Too bad, I like the Harrah's hotels, or I use to.

Reasonably priced in the heart of everything Vegas

Superb location...superb night life.....but few small details that annoyed me...like shower faucet that I have to fight off to fully stop dripping.....busted lights on floor lamp....no complimentary coffee and coffee maker which are standards in most hotels even three star ones.
