The MGM Grand- its a tour onto itself
The MGM is beautiful. The lobby deserves the name Grand. The men out front are very professional, good thing because the MGM hosts conventions all the time. My room was great. It had an art deco feel like you might see in Miami. The shower was huge. It had a big, comfortable bed and perhaps a 30 in tv. Who goes there to watch tv? One thing, its not for the weak in the knees. Its a long walk to anywhere. I was told it was 300 steps from the elevator to my room. It was a 20 minute walk, plus an elevator ride to the conference center. There is no indoor pool at this time. If you want to sit in a whirlpool, there is one in the spa. They have several spa packages for men and women. As for walking outside, I don't know why sidewalks are optional in Vegas. Be prepared for that if you walk. It took me a long time to get to Harrahs. Methinks the maps are not to proper scale. The buffet at the MGM was $18. At one of the nicer restaurants the smallest steak was $29. The skirt steak and the shrimp were both delicious. It was a good place for people watching too. I'm not a gambler, I was there on business, so I can't report on how the gaming goes. They have the usual machines, as well as blackjack. There are several eating places like McDonalds inside too. Restrooms are few and far between, so the long walk advisory applies there too. There are shops for medium priced clothes, and even a wedding chapel. The MGM has a little bit of everything and is well run.

FIRST TIME IN HI
Exceeded my expectations!
I was turned off by the idea of paying a $25/day resort fee but decided to give MGM a chance. I am so glad my family made the decision to stay there! Our hotel room was on the 7th floor and was amazingly easy to get there. The room was very clean and decor was beautiful. We didn't have much of a view but didn't care about that much since we were only in the room to sleep and get ready to have some Vegas fun. It kind of sucks to not have your own refrigerator or microwave in your room but that's pretty much how it is at all the major hotels on the strip. We called to see if we could get a fridge but was informed that it was $25/day... NO THANKS! Good thing they have ice machines. I read other reviews complaining about the scent around the hotel and I will warn you that it is definitely overwhelming but you will get used to it where you don't notice it anymore. I didn't smell it in our room but all over the casino and hallways it was there. The WiFi was blazingly fast! I was very impressed with how fast I could upload and download stuff on my phone and computer. I've stayed at other Vegas hotels where they charged $19.99 for one freakin' day of mediocre service so the $25 resort fee was well worth it in my opinion. I can't comment on how the pool was since we went in February when they are closed. I was very sad to see the lion exhibit closed... Apparently they are building another night club (just what Vegas needs, right? Another night club?!). The hotel is far in my opinion, I usually stay in the middle of the strip. We had a rental car so it wasn't really a big issue for us. They also have trams (we didn't use it) so if you aren't renting a car make sure to wear good walking shoes if you want to check out other sites! Overall I would definitely stay here again. Staff was very warm and welcoming and our room was the best I've stayed in!

Do not pay retail price for any show/exhibit! There are discounts all over the place. We used Tix4Tonight and they are legit with their discounts! We saw Zumanity, The Titanic Exhibition, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, CSI: The Experience, PeepShow, and Tournament of Kings. We enjoyed each and every one.

Girls Weekend
There were charges to the room that were added when we tried to put some of our leftover food in the fridge, we had to call 2 twice to have someone reset the fridge and to remove from our room. We had a $75 meal credit and once we used it were then told that the taxes would be charged to the room. The smell in the lobby and the hallways was unbearable. Whatever is piped in as air freshener should be re considered. I would not stay here again based on the smell that was throughout the hotel. The price was average, the rooms were quiet and comfortable, because of that I would stay again.
