Old but new
The Riviera is an older (from the 50s) hotel on the strip. For the price I paid I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. When I went to check in the hostess asked which tower I prefered so I asked which was best. She recommended the Monaco (if I recall correctly). As it turns out I received a renovated room with a flat screen tv. Very nice and an UNBELIEVABLE value! The hotel includes conference rooms (which was my reason for being there), a casino, a nice pool (about 26m long - good for doing laps), a health club (for a fee, didn't visit), little shops and several restaurants including a food court with Pizza Hut and a good Mexican fast food place and, of course, a restaurant with the obligatory buffet. (Unfortunately it was only open for lunch and breakfast during my stay but lunch was good - and if you sign up for a players card at the casino and show them your airline ticket they give you a free ticket for lunch or breakfast buffet as well as 10% off all other meals at the hotel.) I would definately recommend this hotel...at least if you can get one of the renovated rooms.

The Riveria is a bit of a ...
The Riveria is a bit of a flashback to the 80s/late 90s, but the rooms have been remodeled beautifully. If you can just ignore the walk to your room or at least enjoy for nostalgic reasons because you will be pleasantly surprised once you're in your room. Easy to get to without getting stuck in the traffic on the strip but still being close to everything. I would strongly recommend it!

Good Base Camp
Location was great. Valet parking was excellent and free (please tip). Easy in and easy out. The hotel is pretty nice for the price and not so overwhelming in size. While it is an aging property, it's holding up pretty well - the plumbing and the AC worked. It was 111 degrees when we were there! So blanking HOT! (But it is a dry heat.) The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. No smell! The casino was fun! I won a progressive jackpot on the nickle Blazing 7's! The attitudes of the most of the staff was friendly and welcoming and even the most tired and cranky were easily cajoled into smiles. Buffet hostesses were cool. The manager of the coffee shop revealed her stress with being short staffed and wasn't that nice, but the waitresses made up for it with their prompt service and big smiles. Buffet was better at dinner - Prime rib. Timing is everything. Don't go late for lunch. (After 2). We didn't try the fine dining. Comedy Club was a hoot. Check out Ellis Island! On Koval Lane. Two steak and shrimp dinners (with beer!) with our buy-one get-one free coupon from the American Casino Guide were cheaper than the Subway lunch we had at Circus Circus(aptly named.) We went back to Ellis Island for the cheap breakfast, but if time = money, maybe not so cheap. It took an hour and a half for breakfast, but the food wash excellent. Ellis Island is favored by locals and I can see why.

Great Escape
This was my first trip to Las Vegas as well as staying at the Hotel Riviera. I must say that I was most satisfied with the location price and all of the services provided. I travel a lot on business and this was by far one of the greatest values and expieriences I've had.It has given me an appetite to return just to relax. I ish above all that more hotels had the parking options and ease they offer,it was a dream come true. Especially in a city such as Las Vegas. The location is central to most activities; as well as offering so much without having to leave the hotel. The rooms were roomy and kept very tidy. All in all a great escape from the norm.
