Wonderful stay with family
This hotel has a wonderful location and is always so friendly. I'm a tough recommender so my score is a 4/5 due to the fact that there was no one there during the complimentary wine hour.

I hate to speak too highly of it due to fear of its growing popularity...but this hotel is amazing. My family and I, and now my fiancé and I, always have and always will stay here when in New York. It just doesn't get any better. Perfect location, easy access to subway and close proximity to amazing restaurants and shopping. Love love love. Also allows pets!

Staytime
Just okay...
Arrived to a "double room, twin queen, suite" reservation. Got a single room, twin queen efficiency. When I asked about it the desk, since the dynamics of the visit were that the two of us sleep separately, I was informed that I did not understand booking terminology. Any changes would be " much more expense. Pro: room was okay, the beds very comfortable, plenty of hot water, incidental bar overly stocked. Con: long very brunette hairs in the bathroom, on the carpet and in the only chair ( double room?). Old dirty metal cabinets in tiny, poorly ventilated kitchen ( smell of natural gas) and the old cooking utensils sealed the deal on all meals out. Desk staff functional. No more. Door staff slightly and falsely over friendly. Tipping made them go away.

Affordable, Fabulous and Spacious - YES, in NYC
I always enjoy my stay at the Affinia's. It's like home away from home. You're greeted and welcomed at the door. Staff is friendly. The only sad part on this stay was opening the door to my room and not hearing my kids scream "daddy's home." But that's not Affinia's fault. Next time will be different. The room was huge and I had two flat screen t.v's. I am bringing the family next time - plenty of space.

Large rooms that are dated
room was very dated, carpet dirty and had a hole in it. Kitchen had medal cabinets that squeaked loudly when opened. Front door made a loud noise. Window blinds did not operate very well and stuck

Good value for family getaway
Overall service was good, but took about 30 minutes for the luggage to arrive to the room after check in. Ample room that could have been dusted better. Clean kitchenette. Comfortable beds. Very good location. Overall experience good. will probably return

Nice enough
It was a great room. Not a good view and the computers in the business center were very expensive. Nice Monday night football party. Did not eat breakfast, but it looked good. Doorman was great.

Comfy room, but DEAD SLOW paid internet, lackluster staff
Room was comfy, lobby must've been upgraded since previous reviews saying it was unappealing, I even had a bathtub which can be rare in New York. But I'm never staying here again. I was here on business, and I had work to do; the internet was SO BAD the whole time I was there that one night I had to schlep out to a FedEx Kinko's a few blocks away in the middle of the night with my laptop in order to meet my deadline. Not acceptable, when they're charging $14 a day for paid internet. Also, the front desk staff could use a little upgrade themselves. The person on staff the night of my Kinko's expedition couldn't tell me where to go that would have good internet and didn't really bat a lash when I said the internet was so bad I couldn't use it to work. Thank god I had an iPhone with 3G I could search on, because it's not like I was going to be able to Google it from my laptop, right? And I called the front desk the morning of checkout to ask, literally, verbatim, for "a few minutes' late checkout"—like, 12:10 instead of noon—and got attitude about how "we're expecting to have the room back by noon." Who needs it. Manhattan is full of hotels. Some of them even have good internet and thoughtful staff.

Short walk from hotel
There are FedEx Kinko's locations 3 blocks north and 3 blocks south on 3rd Avenue. You'll need them if you need the internet while you're staying here.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Do the Hop on Hop off tours. They pick up and drop off in several locations. Best way to see the city and then figure out what you want to do with youe time. Learn the train and bus system in order to make you travel around the city easier. Taxies get expensive.
