Sleek and stylish. Hotel Gansevoort is the first luxury, full service hotel in Manhattans vibrant Meatpacking District. Located on Ninth Avenue at 13th street steps from New Yorks most notable restaurants, bars and boutiques. Hotel Gansevoort is known for its signature rooftop, offering stunning 260 degree river and city views and a coveted 45 foot long, heated outdoor pool with underwater music. The hotels rooftop is also home to Plunge Bar, a tranquil garden area, and an event loft with soaring 20 foot ceilings. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the new Japanese pub and sushi bar, Tanuki Tavern. The menu draws its inspiration from the Japanese izakaya-a gastro pub serving Japanese snacks, small plates, noodles and grilled items. Unlike most izakayas, Tanuki Tavern also has an extensive menu of sashimi and inventive and traditional sushi/rolls and riceless rolls. Tanuki Tavern offers a wide array of signature cocktails, craft beers and hard to find sakes. The light wood interior, glowing paper lanterns and eclectic soundtrack of American rock and soul create Tanuki Taverns casual and convivial atmosphere, great for a quick bite, leisurely complete meal or late night snack. Other hotel amenities include well equipped fitness center that is open 24/7 and Exhale Spa. Exhale offers a vast array of transformational spa therapies and results-oriented mind body classes including our highly publicized and proprietary Core Fusion programming. Pre or post-therapy, calm the mind and body in our oversized herbal steam or lounge by one of the three hydrotherapy pools in the relaxation area.

not my idea of 5 star accomedation

Trendy, cool, very young, very good position in the meat packing district, rooms very small, bathroom tiny, buffet breakfast very poor, would not return.

Fine hotel, almost perfect

This was our first five-star hotel and in almost every respect the rating is deserved. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff was attentive and helpful. Bedding and towels and robes of high quality. The top floor had a bar, a pool, and a wonderful view. The only drawback was the bar was frequented by the coolest and the music was the loudest. So unless you were thirty-something, dressed in skin-tight clothes, and didn't care to hear the conversations of your friends, this was not your spot. Hotel guests could take a drink out to the much quieter pool area, but were asked to leave at 11 pm. We are not yet old enough to retire at 11. The location is near good restaurants, the Chelsea arts district, and the L train The bar could be quieter, the prices a bit lower, but in every other respect this is a five-star hotel.

Last minute trip to NYC before baby ;)

I loved the location, amenities, and the hotel overall was great. I did not have time to explore the restaurant or rooftop bar. I did however feel the staff was stuffy and indifferent. I generally stay at leading hotels of the world properties and maybe my standards are a bit higher. But come on, i don't travel with my jewelry and was dressed to fly into Newark not on a private jet. So maybe i have to flash around my designer duds and layer on my mikimotos to stay there again to be treated better? I dont think I should have to. I took off a whole star for the front desk and how unfriendly the y were. When i'm smiling and they are not, it's generally not a good sign. :)

Outstanding staff and Personal attention

I had the unfortunate experience of coming down with Severe Bronchitis on my New Year's Vacation in NY. My friend recently had a cast removed for a broken leg. (We were quite the pair.) She insisted that I needed medical intervention. There was a physician on-call at the hotel, but I had my Primary Care doctor call in a prescription at the local pharmacy. As neither of us were in a condition to pick-up the medication, the hotel sent a man by the name of Xavier to pick up the medication and whatever other items that would make our stay more comfortable. He was truly an angel with a heart of gold . Not only did he repeatedly check on us twice a day, but other members of the hotel staff came to ensure that our stay was comfortable and that we had all the amenities that we required. We were also brought hot tea with lemon and honey by the Housekeeping staff. The hotel had extraordinary security and recoginized guests from visitors automatically. I was determined to see the New Year, so we dressed for the New year and attended the festivities. The food was excellent; as was the service. The hotel was happening! With different venues at our disposal. Unfortunately, the combination of medicine and my malady sent me to bed before the countdown. Next year, I hope to live the experience in full Regala.

Wonderful Experience

Arrival and checkin was quick and stressfree. We were allowed to settle right from the airport rather than have to wait. Comfortable beds, great water pressure in the showers, quality furniture.... Great experience, would suggest others to go!

great location

Hotel location was great. Staff was very friendly. rooms are not that big and they have a tiny tv that doesn't work very well. Bathroom doesn't have a lot of counter space. The roof top bar plays ridiculously LOUD music until 3:00AM, yes, on weekdays! If you're going for fun, it's ok. But if you're there for fun and also business and need to get up early, find another location.
