Great Stay even for children
We had a great experience staying at the Gansevoort. Even though it has a party vibe and scene at night, it didn't impact our stay at all. In fact, this was a good hotel for children (there's the roof pool and a great playground just a block away), so it worked out well for everyone - fun for the adults in to be in that area of Manhattan and fun for the children as well. The staff were friendly in general and very friendly with our children (ages 2 and 4).

Trendy, Classy, Overpriced...
I had a short, quick one night stay here and the rooms are top notch (Deluxe Room). Pool scene was not what I was hoping it would be (very tiny). Needs to be a good DJ out there. They should spice it up a little if Gansevoort wants to continue attracting the trendier crowd. Plunge on Rooftop is not the place to dance as it's small, however great view of the city and being able to access without waiting in line does make you feel 'important'. Make sure to come with the right 'crew' or you'll find it's very difficult to meet other pretentious people at the club. Didn't feel 5 star, but then again I was only here one night and was barely in the room so I'm probably not the best to judge it. They also weren't too strict on check-out by noon, which was nice when you're partying until 6 am and waking up at noon with a hangover from another world and wouldn't be able to pack your bags with any ounce of energy. However, I do plan on doing a 2 nighter there in a few weeks, so I'll be back. But then again, I tend to pick places based on 'status' and what's trendy, which are the people who usually book rooms here anyway. People certainly not on a budget, least to say.

As soon as you book your trip, book dinner reservation in the area immediately for a few places and when you arrive you pick the place on your time rather theirs!

Overall, it was excellent!! Great location!! The only issue was they were slow in getting a light fixture replaced, I had to ask two times before it was done. Outside of this, I have no complaints.

NYC Getaway
First trip back to the city in a while, and we really enjoyed the hotel. The location is pretty much ideal, within walking distance of many great restaurants and shopping. The subway stops are a quick walk away. Staff were friendly and attentive. Rooftop bar is amazing, and it draws a lively crowd. We would definitely pick this location again.

Great weekend stay
Very trendy hotel in a great location. Central to many good bars, restaurants and shopping. Can be loud and busy at night with everyone wanting to get to the rooftop bar so would not recommend if you are there looking for a lot of sleep!

Cool, hip, youthful vibe
This is a five star hotel that meets all expectations. Upon arrival, we were delighted to learn we had been given a double upgrade without having asked for it. We were able to check in before noon. The bathroom had high end finishes and ample space. The beds were on the firm side. Do not miss the stunning sunset views of the Hudson from the rooftop bar!
