Slowdown
Stylish and comfortable
I stayed at the Gansevoort for a week while visiting my daughter and new grandson. The location in NYC's Meat-Packing District is surrounded by great shops and restaurants. Even though the hotel's lounge and roof-top bar drew huge crowds each evening, I was not effected on the way to my room and my room was perfectly peaceful and quiet. Service was fantastic and my room was well-appointed and extremely comfortable. I'd stay at the Gansevoort anytime I'm visiting NYC.

Great location and good customer service
My stay was only one night, but I found the hotel room to be very clean and comfortable and the staff was very customer friendly. The hotel was well located around several high quality restaurants and amenities. I enjoyed my stay and will stay here again on future trips to NYC.

Very cool place...but one problem
We only needed one night to attend family function in the area. We arrived late and were well taken care of. Rooms were small but nice (hey, its NYC). The neighborhood, which I remember from years ago as a center for crack and prostitution, is now sleek with upscale shops and restaurants, real cool and my teen daughter loved that! The only problem we had was that we had 2 rooms...one for my Dad (no problems) and one for me and my daughter...I had requested an extra cot or airbed [...] and was assured they'd have one...even the bell hop said he'd get one...but never did. It got late, my kid fell asleep (on the bed of course) and I slept on the floor (ouch).

A perfect getaway
Right from the start our experience was amazing. When we checked in they notified us that we had been given a free upgrade to one of the suites. My initial thoughts were let me guess the suite is a regular room with a bigger tv. No they gave us a 2 room suite with an amazing balcony view. The place is well run employees are very nice and we were felt at home. If you can check this place out you will not be sorry.

Great for singles or couples
I was quite pleased with the property, the ammenities at your use in the room was great. Love the music selection playing as you enter the room, and the art of shaving kit was nice to have as well. Immunity boosters and energy supplements next to your bedside table, and you've got to love a mini bar that has Cliquot in it. The bed and linens comfy....rooftop bar gets a little hipster NYC style at night slightly obnoxious but they give priority to hotel guests ...overall great property I even extended an extra night

March 18 2011 weekend at the Gansevoort
Great location. Love the shopping bars and restaurants and the atmosphere on the streets. My complaint of hotel was. Window in room would not close. Safe would not open. Tub drain did not drain. Talked to front desk after nothing got fixed during my stay and they side I'm sorry can I give you some free drink cards for the roof top bar. Concierge was a pretty dark hair women that had attitude. bathrooms in main lobby were dirty and had no toilet paper or toweling. However even though the hotel is over priced for what you get I would go back I loved the roof top bar and area.

Outstanding and exceeded our expectation
We had dinner at the Tanuki Tavern the first night we were there. The food was great! They recommended other nearby restaurants that were great too. Since it was Thanksgiving, they made our reservations for us at Marcelleria, which was a 2 minute walk. We could walk to almost any restaurant we wanted to dine at from the hotel. The atmosphere and help were superb and the rooms were beautiful!! Definately will return to this hotel and not look anywhere else.
