very average hotel, good location

only good for Short one night stays, Hotel staff was very rude, room was average, small, bland with no character, toilets small and shabby, AC was broken and not cooling, internet was down, other than that location was great, very close to time square, shops and central park.

We were disappointed

Although the location was terrific, the hotel is dated and not in good working order. The hair dryer didn't work at all it took 2 phone calls to have it replaced. The elevators malfunctioned and hotel bell boys were unwilling to help us down staff elevators. We were stranded on the 5th floor for 30 minutes with luggage prior to check out.....when I complained to desk staff the reply was "I'm sorry" Almost everyday there was a large blow up rat out front with pictures of bed bugs claiming that the hotel has issues with them, again, I asked at the desk and was told it was part of a labor dispute. We will not stay there again

Incredibly underwhelmed

Even upon arrival the experience was quite poor. When waiting at the front desk to check in the attendant excused herself after we'd given our card and pulled up the reservation, only to return nearly 10 minutes later finally with our room ready. I can only suspect that the initial room reserved for us wasn't available and they were juggling rooms, because the room we were in was not up to the standard expected. The room itself smelled musty and old. There were several loose tiles within the restroom which clearly needed some upkeep, including a large crack within the sink. While we spent most of our time outside of the room. When we were in our room, it very much felt more like a Motel 6 than we expected.

Don't stay here unless you want to wake up covered in bug bites

I live in NY and stayed in this hotel while having some work done in my apartment. The first room I was put in had such an overwhelming mildew smell in the bathroom I immediately got an awful migraine and had to switch rooms. Rather than offer to meet me at the new room with the keys I was told to go back to the lobby and stand on line again as if I was checking in. The new room was much better and did not smell, but every light was not plugged in, nor was the alarm clock. Even worse one of the lampshades was covered in dust and what looked like blood stains (I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that it was rust). I checked out the next morning and told the front desk manager that I was disappointed based on the reviews I read and the star rating. A couple of hours later I realized my legs were very itchy, looked down and am COVERED in bug bites-- at least half a dozen incredibly itchy bites. I called the hotel and spoke to a manager who didn't seem overly concerned and pushed it off to security to fill a report. I am hoping to get my money back but want to caution anyone that while this is a good deal and in a great location you may want to think twice before staying here.

Discount Rooms - Poor Quality - limited to bottom floor only

Good Location but very poor quality rooms on 3rd floor when discounted rate. Choices are Noisy streel level or what they call a courtyard interior room looking at brick wall and rusted Air cond units and broken equipment with no light. No amenities in the room - no Coffee pot. 90-yr old hotel, poor room up keep.

This is not a 4 star hotel

Two abandoned room service carts in the hall on my floor all night as was the dirty room service tray from my room's prior occupants right outside my door. Staff was just physically there - not helpful at all.

Better think twice !

I must say, in twenty five years of travel, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I ever had. Ill keep it brief. They are understaffed, inundated with loud folks partying in the rooms all night long and I had a filthy dirty room. Not sure how they attained four star status.

Not a 4 star, that's for sure!

It was a very good location for this part of the city, there were no amenities, no refrigerator, no microwave, you had to pay extra for internet and no spa service. The staff was very short with us. The concierge had packages of things to do but they were much more expensive than if you went with any of the other services available in NYC. The room was not clean at all, there were clothes from the previous guests on the bed, there was something white all over the bed ruffle and there was stuff stuck to the bathroom door. The toilet didn't flush right, you had to flush 2 to 3 times to get toilet paper to go down. When we complained they offered to clean the room so we had to wait an extra 2 hours until 8pm before we could use the room while they cleaned it. The ice maker down the hall had a leak in it so the hall carpet was wet and stunk like wet carpet. If we hadn't pre-paid for the room, we would have left that first night. I have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels, this one was more of a 2 star, maybe 3 only by location.

Never again

We have stayed at Park Central a dozen or more times in the past ten years and have always believed it to be a great value. Our recent visit will be the last time we ever stay at Park Central. The room was dirty and noisy. The hotel was filled with large student groups making it very difficult to even walk through the lobby. We had clothing stolen from our suitcase and when we reported it to the management they were rude and indifferent.
