Gorgeous

The newly renovated Empire Hotel on 63rd Street was absolutely gorgeous. The location was right in the heart of Manhattan, walking distance to the Lincoln Center, Central Park, and the 59th St subway entrance. The lobby was exquisite and the lounge area was decorated in a very dramatic style. While the room was a little crowded (a double-double, two full sized beds) for 4 women who did lots of shopping, it was extremely clean and well appointed. We were on the 1st floor and our window overlooked Broadway. We opened the window and just enjoyed watching the city. The staff was excellent and took good care of us tourists. There were restaurants, drugstores, fruitstands and anything else you needed within two blocks in every direction. We would stay here again and again!

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

There was a Starbucks right next door, a drugstore around the corner, a number of restuarants within walking distance, really. A mall two blocks away and the subway was close. You didn't have to go far to find anything you needed.

good hotel to stay in New York City

I have nothing to complain about the hotel, except our room was on the small side. However, the hotel's location was great. It was centrally located to everything.

Good mid town location. It's right across fron Linclon Center

Was just renovated in 2007. Rooms are small, but clean and functional. It is well situated for most activities being just off Broadway near Central Park and Columbus Circle.

Great location

I stayed at the Empire New York while in the city on business and it was very close to my destination. It's easy to get to and it's not a high rise (which I prefer if possible). Lincoln Center is literally across the street. The room was very clean and modern. It seemed bigger than some of the other hotels I've stayed at in NYC. The bed was super comfortable. The shower was a bit small, but it did the job. The bar looked nice and there were lots of tables if you wanted a quieter place to talk. I'd definitely go back again.

Beautiful facility

The Empire is a very nice, upscale hotel with a number of fine amenities. The only recommendation I would make to the hotel is to provide more means in which to place toiletries in the bathroom! Otherwise, the room was very comfortable and beautiful and in the perfect location to Lincoln Center.

Lincoln Center is only about two blocks away. Also, there is a fine restaurant immediately beside the main hotel doors. This restaurant is open until one o'clock a.m. and most convenient, when coming in from a show.

Empire Hotel Review

The hotel looks very '70's when you walk in. The rooms are great. Flatscreen tv, and a wonderful shower. I had one hotel clerk that wasn't friendly but the other one was extremely friedly. Bell hops and maids were friendly as well.

Great Spot

We found this hotel to be perfect for our first New York stay. It is centrally located near Central Park, Lincoln Center and is only a short cab ride to the theater district. The staff was great and accomodated our every wish. The room was comfortable and the bed was great. The bath was a little cramped but given that this hotel was first built in the '20s it was fine. My only complaint was that the AC didn't keep the room cool enough at night. Often I slept on top of the bed instead of in it. There is no real in hotel food services but PJ Clarke's next door was a real plus. Room service could be had however.

If you stay at the Empire and wish to see Ellis Island, it is less than half a block to the subway. Take the number one train and it will take you right to Battery Park and the South Ferry terminal. It took all of 20 minutes to get from the hotel to the terminal and the subway ride...$2.00! Best deal in the city.
