Not bad but not great

We had a fairly decent stay at the empire. We only stayed for one day but it took more than 2 hours for our room to be ready. We decided to pass the time at the pool on the roof. It's not so much a pool as it is patio with a kiddy splash area. The pool is maybe 12 feet long 5 feet wide and 6 children complete occupy the space. The view was nice but the small size of the patio and the way they have it arranged you can appreciate it. For what you pay it is not as nice as what you might fight a few blocks further away.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The open air night bus from time square doesn't completely fill up as they try to keep schedule. So you get a much more personel tour of the city all lit up and less tourist intervention.

No exta Cot

We traveled on a package which included flights and hotel stay. Our group was 5 women and were assured that we would have two rooms with 2 large double beds per room and a cot for the fifth person. There was no cot, no possiblilty of securing a cot, as there was no space in the room for a cot even they been an option. The Empire staff made it clear that it does not provide cots. We were traveling to NYC to attend the opening of the opera at Lincoln Center. Location was perfect for that event. Hotel is a perfect location for Lincoln Center and within walking distance wonderful restaurants. Room was very hot an seemed impossible to cool down. Staff was lovely, but [...]needs to be aware that they should not tell clients that accommocations could be made for a third or fifth person. No cots, no couches, nothing....

A mixed hotel experience.

The room and the bathroom were really small even by New York standards. There were no instructions in the room as to how to use the shower (which was complicated) or the telephone or how to call the front desk. We had an adjoining room and the people next door partied all night and their cigarette smoke came into our room. We had a non-smoking room. The restaurant on the second floor was OK for a snack but the breakfast service was a disaster. We will definitely not stay here again even though it is right across from Lincoln Center.

Very Impressed

We spend 1 weekend every year in New York with friends. We have stayed at many different places around time square. The Empire Hotel worked out great. Very comtemporary and fun. We would stay there again. The service was better than other hotels we have stayed at in the same price range or more.

Great trendy hotel

Great boutique hotel, fantastic location, excellent rooftop bar. Definitely not a hotel to stay with your kids, it is trendy, cute hotel. The rooms were a good size, for all those that say it is small, well you haven't lived in New York. The size of the room was exactly as I expected, if not a big more spacious. Well decorated hotel and this is an excellent location, close to all subways, Central Park, etc. Would highly recommend the hotel.

Rooftop bar is a great place to start the evening. Excellent atmosphere and great music, plus you don't have to worry about the line which is an added plus. Built in entertainment venue.

Fantastic Getaway For Two!

The Empire Hotel is in an excellent location. I would definitely stay there again. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful from the front desk to the maids. If you need an iron, you can ask and the hotel will bring one to your room. The rooms are small but decorated very trendy and nice. Tip: the bathroom waste container is under the bathroom cabinet. We couldn't find till well into our stay. The hotel is near Lincoln Center, a short walk to Columbus Circle, a short walk and you are in Central Park, a short walk and your are at Times Square. It isn't the quietest hotel but I didn't think it was overly noisy either. The noise didn't seem to bother me, in fact I rather enjoyed it, the hustle bustle of New York starting her day! Obviously, there were no mini coffee pots in the room, but you could go to the hotel restaurant or get room service. It was easier to go to the Starbucks that was literally out the hotel, turn the corner, Starbucks. We had a great time in New York and were very pleased with our stay at the Empire Hotel.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Use the subway! We were there for 5 nights. We got a subway map and just went for it. People in New York are so friendly and helpful. We were able to go all over, get off at whatever stop we wanted, and then walk all over New York. Got lots of exercise, too. We only took a cab to a broadway show one night.
