beautiful view
Our room was very spacious and overlooked central park, It was beautiful furnished. The common areas of the hotel were lovely. Our only complant, was as we find in most hotels, the room temperature was not cool enough at night. The room thermosadt really did not control the temperature.

Best Location, Best View
We had a fabulous weekend in NYC. We usually try to stay near or on the park if we can get a decent deal. This was probably the best room we've stayed in. We were on the 32nd floor with a view of Central Park. The room was huge by Manhattan standards and was very comfortable. The only "complaint" (it's not much of one) is that the A/C worked, but not great. I couldn't get the room cooler than 75 degrees, and we were there during a fairly oppressive heat wave. I can't really speak to the amenities or staff (I gave perfect rating because the site required ratings in each category) because we didn't really take advantage of the hotel as much as we could have. We were busy taking advantage of the city. But there is no question, this was the best hotel and room we've stayed in. You can't beat the location. We could walk to every major museum. And of course, we took daily walks in Central Park. I'm not a shopper, but if I were, the Helmsley Park Lane is perfect for that too. For those of you who want pure unadulterated luxury, this might not be the best hotel (unless you spring for a suite or something), because the decor was neutral and old-fashioned. But I couldn't have been happier. As for value, we got a great deal, so I'm not sure about regular prices. But I'm sure they're comparable with other nice hotels on the park.

Night in the City
They oversold the park view rooms but recovered nicely by offering room at an upper floor and included breakfast and cocktails. I believe I got good value and would sign up for the same deal.

Helmsley Park Lane One Night Stay
Overall my experience was very good. The room was spotless, location was excellent, the double decker bus tour is available right across the street, Central Park is across the street and it is walking distance to the Lincoln Center for Broadway Shows if you don't mind a bit of a walk. Please be advised that if you reserve a 2 double bed room that the Helmsley may not have availability even if you have paid for it ahead of time. That was my only complaint, and it is a BIG ONE, since I was with my new daughter -in-law.

Best hotel near the park and midtown!
The Helmsly Park Lane Ia a terrific spot to spend a few days in the Big Apple. Our teenagers we blown away with the fantastic view of the park at night from the 29th floor. How often can you give that to teens nowdays. Everything is within walking distance or a subway ride. You cannot beat it for the $$s, view and convience!

Great Honeymoon night
We wanted a special place to spend out honeymoon night without breaking the bank, The room was wonderful, You staff was excellent. We had our coffee arrive within 10 minutes after ordering, which was very important to us. They only thing we didn't realize is that we had to ask for a room overlooking the park, As lifetime New Yorkers we are hard to imprress. This hotel rates a 10. Thank you
