Family trip

Stayed at the Kimberly with our 6-year-old for 3 nights. Overall, a pleasant experience. The suites are huge, so perfect for a family if you want a little distance. Our son slept on the pull-out sofa, and we slept in the separate bedroom. The kitchenette, fridge, and dishwasher are convenient. The staff were nice, and the rooftop lounge was fun. The only downside is that everything is SUPER cheap: the beds are incredibly uncomfortable, the bathroom is minuscule and the shower is a miserable experience, there's no climate control in the room, there's little soundproofing so it's just like you're on the street, and the French "antiques" decor just doesn't achieve the look of elegance that the decorators were going for. But for a few days, if you're looking to spread out and you're getting a good rate ($257/nt in our case), I recommend it!

Cold staff

Staff responded but always seemed disinterested. They didn't ask how things were even at checkout. The only friendly person was the doorman as we left.

Unexpectedly pleasant stay

Very well appointed room, good bed and kitchenette. Not your trendy-of-the-moment NYC hotel, but very nice stay. Leave yourself enough time in the AM to enjoy breakfast on the penthouse floor great space and beautiful city view.

my favorite secret spot in new york

rooms are amazingly big for nyc ..even had a tiny little balcony that was nice to just sit on and enjoy coffee in the morning... The location is great and it just felt like "my place" from the first time I got there. 15 years ago I booked it on an internet special and it was the deal of all time! Years later I wanted to rebook it and it had be remodeled and rates were pretty high but it was worth it to me because I knew that it was worth it! There is nowhere else I would rather stay!
