Fantasic location and staff

Our stay was great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and we couldn't have asked for anything better with regards to location. The hotel is 1-2 blocks away from many nice restaurants, Bryant Park, and the New York Public Library. Be sure to check out the Highline - it's about 20 minutes away walking, but is a great place to take a leisurely stroll.

Excellent for a short stay

While the rooms could be significantly bigger, the location makes up for any other shortcomings. If you're visiting New York and plan to spend more time touring the city than sitting in your room, this is a great place.

Discover New York

For a first timer, especially after listening to your friends' hotel stories, when you finally decide to go to New York you feel a little bit worry. A lot of "what ifs" start to move through your head...And here is where Strand Hotel comes like a nice surprise: clean rooms, very friendly staff (and professional as well), the perfect location (not too close to get annoyed by the "action", but not too far to be tired of walking), close proximity to different restaurants and cafes, subway stations and main tourist attraction (e.g. Empire State Building is 2 blocks away) etc. Overall: a great experience for the right price.

See the view from the roof deck!

The Strand is located a few blocks south and East of Times Square. The staff is the friendliest I have every experienced. We asked to be moved to a quieter room and they did everything necessary to make it happen. The roof deck is just spectacular with a unique (in a good way) view of the Empire State Building. One odd thing about the room was that they do not have "regular" pillows on the bed. Instead they are small square ones.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

If you go 12 blocks (the long ones) west you can get to the Hudson River. Then a few blocks uptown you can rent bikes for the great rides up and down Manhattan.

The Strand Hotel - New York

My husband and I have just come back from 4 nights in New York and stayed at the Strand, we could not fault this hotel, the location is perfect and the staff were excellent, the roof top bar is brilliant just the place to sit and have as relaxing drink after a busy day in New York with a great view of the Empire State Building, we would not hesitate in coming back to the Strand and would recommend it to anyone.
