One of Western New York's finest upscale hotels that has built a strong reputation for superb convention, corporate, and leisure facilities and attentive service. A 338-room modern tower with over 13,000 sq ft of meeting space, the hotel is in the heart of downtown and creates a dramatic, elegant presence. Salmon tones, Italian marble, Australian lacewood covered walls and dramatic columns further enhance our guest's first impressions. Centrally located in the heart of the city, the Hyatt Regency Rochester is conveniently accessible to all major expressways and is only 15 minutes from the NYS Thruway. The hotel is connected via an enclosed walkway to the Rochester Riverside Convention Center, which represents an additional 100,000 sq. ft. of meeting, exhibit, and banquet space.

Good business hotel

The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the hotel is a bit rundown. The carpets in the room were stained, not due to a lack of cleanliness, but just from age. It is well maintained, but in need of a good remodeling. Good amenities. The business center was helpful but overpriced -- as is to be expected -- over a dollar per page for printing and $5 just to log onto computer. The restaurant was not too bad, the food was flavorful and the staff was nice -- it was a pleasant place to have dinner. Overall, it is a perfectly fine place for a business stay and the amenities were all good, just a bit rundown.

There is a selection of sandwiches and burgers available on the room service menu that are not on the restaurant menu, you should consult with the server since they can usually offer them to you in the restaurant as well.

Great lodging for last minute situation

The doors were locked for safety reasons I suppose when we arrived. However, the nighttime staff were very resourceful.

Great Hotel

Friendly staff, great ammenities and good bar/food. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice hotel in the Rochester area. Gym could be a little nicer, though.

Not the worst hotel...

We only stayed at this hotel for one night. The bedding was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the receptionist was very nice, so it worked. The downsides - The decor felt dated and weak for a hotel that was rated so highly. The carpet in the room had big stains and there was a strange smell in one of the rooms.

If this is the best????

if this is the best that Rochester has to offer, they are in trouble. I have had better accommodations in an "average" hotel. For the money, it was not up to par! The room is small, walls thin, bathroom TINY and I had a few spiders on the bed! The group in the next room was loud at 2AM, the room phone did not work and when I used my cell to call, NOBODY answered the phone. Not very good for a fine hotel! I could have spent half the amount and had a vending machine somewhere, coffee, no pins on the floor because the staff didn't vacuum and a responsive staff! Get a cab for the extra $20, trust me!

only for children

We've stayed here twice, and should have learned the first time. The first time we were dropping our son off to start his first year at the Eastman School of Music, just a few blocks away. Everyone else was there for a teen beauty pageant. It was crowded, noisy, and the girls used the hallways to practice their dance rountines all night long. The slow 3-elevator bank was in constant use as the children ran back and forth between their rooms and the contest, making the delays excessive. Foolishly, we returned a year later to attend an opera performed by the Eastman School of Music at the Kodak Theater. Apparently, this time everyone else was there to participate in a religious meeting. Again, it was crowded, noisy, and the children used the hallways to visit with their friends all night long. The lack of sound-proofing is amazing. The slow 3-elevator bank was in constant use as the children ran back and forth between their rooms and the meeting, making the delays excessive. Even more children swarmed in the next day for a sport conference of some kind, with buses and uniforms everywhere. This difficulty was compounded by the extensive remodeling that is ongoing, making a barely adequate space even more sterile and inconvenient. Clearly, this hotel caters to large, transient groups, not individual travelers.
