Great location, room needs updating
Experience here was OK -- great location, but room needed updating. It was dark and also it was New Year's Eve so there was some noise. A fire alarm got us up on Monday morning without apology from the hotel -- apparently someone burned toast.

Perfect Busines Trip Accomodations
Located in a pretty area of Rochester with dining, shopping and culture all within walking distance. Accommodations were nice, although by the day I was leaving, the fabric refreshers and air fresheners started wearing off. Other than that, I had a nice stay in a location convenient to my needs.

Ok For the price
Stayed for two nights on a business trip. Rooms were dated but clean. Staff friendly. One of the elavators was broken, that was a pain. Otherwise, ok. Close to everything.

A hotel of contradictions
Hotel seems to be in trasition from either cheap to moderate or the other direction. there was a huge hole in the wall where they stuck in an electric heater. The thing leaked almost as much cold air as heat. The room was fine unless you got within 10 feet of the heater and then you could feel the cold. Room was very large and the fridge and microwave was great. Wifi was very spotty as well--kept going totally out. restaurant was excellent and the bar was good. Overall a pretty good experience if you don't mind things being a bit run down.

Could have been better
My experience at this hotel could have been better if 1.The person or persons who cleaned my room and made up the bed had done so with more care. 2. The front desk staff hadn't acted as if I were bothering them when I needed a luggage cart (to haul my own luggage with) and a room key that actually worked. 3. The luggage cart was somewhat clean. The one I got when I was leaving was actually disgusting. And 4. There was an entrance to the hotel from the sparsely lit parking lot in the back of the hotel. On the up side, it was a very convenient location and the room was large and clean. Bottom line: I would recommend this hotel to a friend for its location. For the money, some motels offer a continental breakfast.

Fall Trip to Rochester; pre-Thanksgiving
A 9 story gem in the heart of Rochester, NY. Located on East Ave., walking distance to the George Eastman House, Museum of Science and other Art and night life venues. The hotel is very comfortable and spacious with a great lounge on the first floor, sorry we didn't stay for the live Jazz on Thursdays and Fridays. The building was a late 60's construct but has been maintained very well. The room amenities are very good. This was a great find in a beautiful section of Rochester at a great price ([...]!) We're going back next time we're in town for sure.

Our Stay
We booked this hotel because of its proximity to downtown. It is in major need of an update. The whole hotel can be described in one word.. dingy. The linens were clean and the room had a sitting area.

Mother out for the evening
Not what I expected!
The hotel states that they offer valet service for cars. I arrived pulled up front and 2 men were standing outside. Not one acknowledges me and the one who actually was working there was smoking a cigarette (bellman/shuttle driver) within 5 feet of the front door. I entered the hotel (leaving my car in the front), asked the front desk agent if there was anything I should do with the car for valet parking. The front desk agent informed me that the parking lot was around the corner and I needed to park there... so much for valet parking. Check in was check in, no welcome to the hotel, just got a what's the last name and credit card please. After checking in I returned to my car with all my bags and moved it to the parking lot then carried all my bags back and headed to the room. When I got the room, it was large, semi-clean, not what I expected. The bed looked inviting however nothing else did. I was hungry so I looked for a room service menu. There was no menu to be found, so I headed down to the Grill to order. When I walked in there was a bartender and a woman in jeans. I asked the woman if I could order lunch and she had to ask the bartender. Take note there was a couple that enter right before me who had already placed an order. The woman presented me with a menu and then the bartender brought me a different one seeing that they have a different menu for Saturdays. I ordered a mushroom burger well done. The waiter came over about 8 minutes before my meal was ready and asked if I would like to know when the burger was ready. When I asked my, he stated that he thought I would like to eat the lunch in my room, not sure where he got that idea. Well done is just how it came, extra crispy and tasted as if it had been grilled directly on the coals, the French fries were also well done. I returned to my room around 3pm and was ready for a shower before heading out to my party. I turned the water on and what do you know, the hot was very cold. After waiting 5 minutes I phoned the front desk agent and asked if there was something special I should do, she informed me that the water takes 15 -20 minutes to heat up and sometimes the controls are messed up so cold might be hot and hot might be cold, and giggled after making the statement. I returned around 1030pm to the hotel and was ready for a good night's sleep. There are sheers and drapes and in the living room both closed, in the bedroom on the sheers closed, which didn't help let me sleep in. At about 4:03am the phone was ringing in the living room, but the time I realized what was happening, I got to the phone and it stopped. Annoying! Needless to say I got up at 7am and checked out shortly after; I wasn't evening going to attempt breakfast. A few other things, the heater control on the wall in the bedroom doesn't control the heat, the living room control on the wall does control the heat - however both are very loud. When I entered the room, I opened the closet to use the iron and found a very dirty ironing board cover. Also found 2 spare pillows in the living room closet that was stained. Looked like dried blood but I convinced myself that it was makeup to feel more at easy. In the evening when I returned to the hotel the woman at the desk was very pleasant, she was probably the only employee that seemed to fit the part at the hotel. I did use the shuttle service and was a bit disappointed. The driver was very pleasant. I came down about 20 minutes late due to my water problems and the driver informed me that he was waiting for a couple people in the bar going to the same spot. I told him I forgot something in my room and that I would be right back. The driver ensured me that he would be waiting when I returned. I returned about 3 minutes later to see the shuttle peeling out of the driveway, without me in it. I ended up being about 45 mintues late to the party due to my water problems and missed shuttle.
