Not a good place
We canceled our stay after one night. Neighborhood was not a safe place, room was very old and dingy. I was not comfortable leaving my car in the parking lot unattended. It was well worth driving 5 miles out of the center of downtown to find a nice, friendly and clean hotel vs staying downtown at the econo lodge.

shady hotel
I had to wait for someone to open the door because only one person was on staff and he was helping someone else in their room. Although very friendly, it took him a few tries to get my room key to work. Room was terrible, dirty and smelly. Great location in downtown Syracuse (very close to the night life)

Good value
The location was close to downtown, so since I was there for business, this was very handy. The room was average, bed comfortable, and very clean. Continetal breakfast was available until 9:30. There was plenty of parking, and the price was reasonable.

OK Stay
I think this place is located close to the bad part of town so the characters walking across the street from this place are a little scary. Staff at check in was nothing special, maybe even little on the rude side. Hotel room is very small, the beds have seen better days and the channel selection on the TV limited to 10 channels if I remember correct.

Downtown Ghetto
When we arrived at the hotel to check in, the woman said that the room that I wanted (non-smoking) was not available and that no other rooms were available. I wanted to cancel my reservation, but she told me that seeing that I made the reservation with Orbitz, I would lose my money. I was given a smoking room that reeked of stall cigarettes. I'm an asthmatic and this was a problem. I felt as if I was in a big ashtray. The woman also told us that we can leave the window open to air out the room. I couldn't believe she had the nerve to tell me this. The neighborhood where this hotel is located is in a ghetto. Why would I leave my window open when the surrounding area has a house right next to it with pedophiles and who knows what other criminals (I was told this by some locals that we meet at a restaurant/bar where we spent the good part of the evening in). In addition, to add insult to injury, the room was dirty. The only clean things were the sheets, towels and bathroom. We stayed out most of the evening and returned around 3:00 am to find no parking. The person at the front desk told me with an attitude that I had to park on the street. Its bad enough that my room sucked and stank, now there was no parking. We slept only a couple of hours and to tell you the truth, we slept on the chairs. I was afraid that the bed had bugs. I couldn't wait to check out. With only a few hours sleep we checked out and went to another town and found a room that was more of what we are accustomed too. The only positive thing that I can say about this hotel is that its right off the major highway. This was my first and last time that I will use the internet to book my hotel. I usually stay at the Clarion or the Holiday Inn chains without any problems. I will never stay at another Econo Lodge.

Downtown Syracuse
Walking distance to downtown Syracuse. OK free breakfast. Nothing fancy. If you are on a budget and want central location, this hotel may be for you.

Budget Lodging
I found that there are no restaurants near this hotel, which is in a run-down part of Syracuse. The shower didn't drain, so it filled up with water in a few minutes. But the rooms were clean and it was quiet.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
If you stay here, and want to eat out, go over by the university and the medical center. There are some decent places to eat over there.

Syracuse Trip
We had a 6 hour drive to the hotel on a motorcycle. When we got there my wife said if we could have a room in the front so that we can watch the motorcycle. My wife said the clerk looked at the other clerk and gave us a room. The room was at the corner of the hotel next to the main road. The room was very loud and we could not sleep and the air-conditioning did not turn on. Also there was no bathtub and the bathroom was small. The clerk should of told us the room was noisy expecially when he saw we had a long trip on a motorcycle not in a car.
