Wonderful stay at the Westin

I booked the Westin Columbus to get away from it all during a four day break... And it had just what I needed. This building is not only gorgeous, but the rooms are classy, with a simple elegance. It was perfectly located near German Village, which was a short jog... Short North is a couple miles Down the road as well, a short drive. I ordered room service a couple times and the food was excellent; the mini bar was well stocked, and the prices were actually pretty reasonable. They have a wonderful fitness center, Thurbers Bar, and High Street Grill. Beautiful bathroom... It was the perfect retreat. My only beef, and this is why its not a 5 star review, is that there is not free WiFi... I was shocked, and a little disappointed. $10.00 per day for WiFi, which is nuts in this day and age; I think given what I paid for the room, as this is a high class place, WiFi should absolutely be included.

Clean, Comfortable

Small room, but plenty of space for a single traveler. Updated amenities, comfortable bed. In good weather, it's a 10 minute walk to a number of great downtown restaurants.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

It was a $5 cab to dinner, and I recommend it. It's not a bad walk, but there is one stretch that passes a series of bus stops, and that could pose a threat at nighttime.

Like sleeping in a closet

We have made the trek to Columbus for an overnight stay for the last four years to attend an event downtown. This is the second time we have stayed at this location. The first time the room was the typical business travelers room, no frills but the room was comfy and cozy. This time we were put in a room that was basically a walk in closet. There were two of us and we litterly couldn't move around the room at the same time. The shower had no tub instead a very small stall that allowed very little movement. I can imagine that anyone larger than average could get stuck! We may consider staying else where next time.

Good Stay

We traveled to Columbus for an evening out with friends and had a very pleasant experience. Westin purchased the Great Southern Hotel sometime in the last decade (since our last stay) and has updated the hotel with contemporary features while retaining the classic hotel's charm. The rooms are small (traditional) but comfortable. Overall a good place to stay.

Pleasantly Surprised!!

Upon driving to the hotel, it didn't seem to be in the BEST location, however, once inside the building, it was beautiful. The rooms were nice and cozy, the bed was superb, the staff was very attentive, overall one of the best stays in a hotel in a VERY LONG TIME! The room rate on the door was about $500 a night, got the room for almost next to nothing! What a great deal! This is a place I would definitely try to stay in again, if we were ever in Ohio.
