Short drive from hotel
When coming back to the hotel from the Air Force Museum it is easiest to turn right upon leaving the parking lot, turn right off of Springfield Drive to head east on Kaufmann and turn right again to head south on National Drive. Once you pass highway 675 you can turn left onto the street that the hotel is on. It will appear on your left.

There and Back Again: A Nerds Tale
I arrived right before the 3pm check-in, and they were able to get me into a room right away. That was nice. There's a restaurant there but I didn't eat at it. There were plenty of other good options in the area and there didn't appear to be many people eating at it. The staff was helpful, and were cheerful nearly to a fault. While going in and out of the hotel I heard them talking to people on the phone telling them there weren't any hotels available. They gave the callers phone numbers for other hotels in the area, which was decent of them. The area is ok, basically near Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and piled high with chain restaurants. If there were sidewalks anywhere along the Pentagon street there would be a couple of restaurants within walking distance. If you don't mind plodding through the grass then it wouldn't be a big deal. The only gripe I had was that the fitness room, which had really good equipment, was often full and was in bad repair. Specifically, there was only one elliptical machine and it made this funny grinding noise when using it. Overall it had clean rooms, a friendly staff, and good access to Wright Patterson so it fit my needs well.

Good place to stay
The hotel was lovely and in a convenient area to access, by lots of shopping and Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The dining room/food was good with good atmosphere and the bar was a happy place. Nice, clean and hospitable.

Somewhat disappointed!
Well, first of all, I booked a smoking room at a rate of $169.00 per night plus tax. When I got to the hotel, they promptly notified me and with not much courtesy, "This is a totally non-smoking facility, so you'll have to go outside to smoke." They did place my room as close to the exterior door as possible, I should have been told this was a "non-smoking facility from jump-street! The room was nice, whirlpool tub was nice except for the one jet cover that came off twice while I was using it. Bottom-line, for the price, it was definitely not worth the upgrade. I chose the extra amenities as a special treat for myself and my friend. In retrospect, it would have saved me $60 per night to just have a standard room there or $100 per night to have chosen the Motel 6 or Super 8 at $45 per night. You know they have jacuzzi rooms too! I expected what I booked and I got none of it, especially the broken jet hot tub in my room. Don't waste your money! Motel 6 or Super 8 has the same kind of room at a tremendously lower rate! Secondly, when I arrived, there was a socker tournament going on and it seemed most of the players and parents were staying at the same Hilton! The noise level in the lobby when I arrived was deafening! It was like a bunch of buzzards fighting over road-kill at the buffett! Extremely Loud!!! I arrived mid-day and would have loved to have had lunch at their restaurant, however, I was not willing to fight for my food, so I went elsewhere. I understand marketing and appealing to larger groups for additional revenue but the scene I viewed when I arrived was overwhelming! Very Disappointed!

Nice stay
I was in Fairborn on business and chose to return to the Hilton Garden Inn, having had a pleasant stay a few weeks earlier. It's a very nice hotel with all of the amenities (pool, gym, bar, cookies). The rooms are very comfortable and the property is extremely clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and attentive. My only suggested improvement would be to make the breakfast buffet complimentary...the $6 add on seems to be too much for a coffee and sweet roll and yet too little to be worth the billing effort. If others can offer breakfast at $69 a night certainly Hilton can at considerably higher room rates.

nice hotel, a few glitches
Really nice hotel but I specifically ordered two queen beds and they ovebooked the hotel and I ended up having to cram a kid in bed with my wife and I. It could have been a great experience if not for the overbooking. Lots of hillbillies at the hotel but they can't help where they are located. The little kid blowing his nose on the window of the gym (from the pool) was a nice touch. Its Ohio so I always expect something like that when visiting that godforsaken State.
