hotels that seem to have given thought to youe every need. Its located in downtown Philadelphia just off the entertainment and shopping areas. Its only minutes away from the Avenue of the Arts Pennsylvania Convention Center S Antique Row and the Historic Independence Hall area. A warm and friendly hotel where good taste and artwork abounds. Its rooms are designed to reflect the great ships of the 30s in the fabrics furnishing and decor. The amenities one expects are all there from large fluffy towels to hari dryers. Their television offerings are several complimentary movie channels plus sports and many other favorites. In addition there is a fitness center a complimentary guest e-mail computer center. A large breakfast buffet that is complimentary includes fresh beaked goods as well as yogurt cereals and more. With discounted nearby indoor parking very reasonable rates and a staff of friendly employees its become the favorite of many travellers.

Great location. Wonderful staff.

Location is perfect for walking to all the historic sights of Philadelphia. John and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and we appreciated having the snacks (fruit and pastries) available at all hours. Beautifully restored historic building in quiet residential neighbourhood. Overall a great value.

Great value!

Went to Philly for a conference, got a great value for the money! Friendly staff, great value, great location. The amenities are pretty good-there's a small gym downstairs, continental breakfast is ok but there's no sort of protein source other than boiled eggs. Overall very satisfied with my stay. This hotel is right in the gayborhood-a definite nightlife plus. Highly recommend it!

Easy smooth stay

My husband and I needed to be in Phili for 1 day. after careful search through reviews i made my choice to stay at Alexander Inn. our AAA membership finally worked out. The only concern is parking. Hotel doesnt have its own spot, however its partnered with parking garage 3 blocks away. no problem, but it was pouring rain when we got to the hotel and we soaked completely while running those 3 blocks. but room was cozy and comfortable. we are not needy people, so this place was good enough. i would definitely get there again if i ever come back to Phili.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

I loved walking down the alleys and seeing the very old colonial homes. Pennsylvania Hospital is close and one can walk to South Street restaurants too.

Great location, fine facility

This place is the best we've stayed in Philadelphia for convenience of location, amenities, and quality of space. We will certainly book it again when practical.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Opa, a Greek place, and Knock are within a few blocks of the hotel. Both have delicious food at great prices. We also found the Devon Seafood Grill for lunch, a tremendous value for their soup and half sandwich combinations. This is on Rittenhouse Square and farther away but a short taxi ride if walking is out. By the way, taxis in Philadelphia are quite reasonable.

Ideal center city location

The staff was extremely helpful. Hotel is pristine clean. Though small, the room had everything I needed. It might be a little too small for two people. The Alexander Inn reminds me of a European property. No glitz, attentive treatment, solid management. The location was ideal for my needs.

Great find in a big city

Loved this hotel! Great location. Walking distance to all the sites. Historic old place well maintained! Lots of charm. Small room but had everything we needed. Breakfast was great too. Not the prepackaged stuff. If you are looking for the large chain type places this is not for you. If you want charm, ombiance, and don't care about the size of your room this is your place.

The Perfect Spot for a Philly Getaway

The staff at this hotel are fantastic. We arrived early Sunday morning and had planned to drop bags at the hotel and sight-see until check-in time but it was pouring down rain. We went to the hotel to seek shelter to find our hotel had lost power. No worries. The staff had the situation completely under control. They gave us coffee and snacks and let us dry out in the Grand Room. A hotel without power could be a time of crisis, but the guests were happy and laughing. The staff was making coffee runs and one gentleman ran home (across the street) and brought back a vat of scrambled eggs for a guest who was grumpy about not being able to shower. They go out of their way here to make you feel at home. I will stay here every time I am in Philadelphia.

Good deal for awesome neighborhood

Rooms are nothing special, but you're not paying for the rooms -- you're paying for the location, which can't be beat. Across the street from a great beer/wine/cheese bar, and it just gets better from there. Anything you'd want to eat is within 5 blocks, including the Reading Terminal Market.
